At the bottom of the article. Sam the Minuteman's FB page just announced "breaking news" that 105.5 WEEI is now the official broadcast partner for UMASS Football, but I can't find any press releases just yet. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

| Good new for Western MA... although they will have to deal with multiple occassions when Sox/Celtics games clash with UMass football/basketball games. I can only hope they are diligently working on something for the Eastern part of the state, which is absolutely critical for increasing exposure to the portion of the state where the football games will actually be played. The Sports Hub would have been great, but I'm sure their syndication of Notre Dame football made that all but impossible. |

| I had a thought regarding TV. How about NECN, New England Cable News. Honestly, no one needs repeating old news and infomercials running all day on Saturday's. How about them taking a break from the boring weekend news cycle and carrying UMass football during the season? Someone should look into this. |

I posted this in another thread but still think it holds true:
I don't see why they wouldn't talk to NESN about picking up games when they don't have another local team lined up. I seem to recall in the past NESN having a lot of out of market ACC games and weird games on TV. Quinny pays to have their games on NESN a lot, I think a partnership similar to what they have with the Krafts for the stadium which includes a small guarantee from UMass and then profit sharing could be a good for both parties with the number of UM alumni in NE and now with NESN national I would think nationally those of us that have NESN would be more likely to be New Englanders and likely to be interested in UMass...... Sooooo excited. _________________ UConn girls are........................... Huskies!! |

| They still have to come up with an alternate plan when our games (FB & BB) conflict with Red Sox and Celtics games. |

There won't be an alternate plan as far as WEEI-FM is concerned. Remember that we live in a pro sports state. Hopefully the Athletic Dept. has one, but I doubt it will be attractive. And we sure as hell better not get bumped by a BC broadcast in Western Mass.
By the way, the press release said their coverage includes "Providence College football and basketball." Providence College football? |

Tweet from the new Masslive beat reporter:
"In terms of Red Sox/Celtics conflicts, #UMass will take priority, WWEI will look for partners in Springfield area to take on pro games." _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

If that is true, I am shocked. However, our new beat writer had to correct his info on Cady, so let's hold on until we hear something official. If our new beat writer has it right, he is 3 steps ahead of where Ron would have been. |

| Red Sox uber alles. That's just the way it is in New England. But basketball won't have any conflicts, and I see just three with football in September. (It doesn't look like we'll have to worry about any Red Sox conflicts in October.) |
