OK folks, this is for the students and alumni that whine about why students don't get "respect" from the townspeople. I grew up in the Amherst area, have 2 UMass alums as parents, and am a proud UMass alum myself. Unfortunately, events like these are why the locals aren't always thrilled to have the students back in town.

This is bad, bad form. Puffer's is a great spot to relax and have the occasional beverage. Clean up after yourselves though.

If you want the town and admins to stay off your back, party responsibly and clean up. I have no problem with the town coming down hard because of crap like this.

I'm a proud UMass alum. I'm proud of how UMass educated me. And, I'm proud of how much fun I had while getting that education. This type of behavior hurts that pride.

I see this at happen at other lakes and beaches around New England. Just no excuse. Absolutely gross!

Can someone explain to me why people like hanging out there? I didn't like going there when I was in school. And take away all that trash and it is a desolate looking landscape.

I never got the attraction of Puffers Pond.
