Anyway, time to focus on Colgate. |
According to lax power guru, our RPI would have been 5 at worst if we
lost to Drexel.......you think they'd leave out 5th team in RPI? I don't. Maybe a road game, but we'd get in. If we would have been good enough for a top tier quality win, then we were good enough for at large.
But who knows.... |
Your probably right as I guess they wouldn't leave out a top 10 RPI team - but the way Seaman said going undefeated was impressive, but then focused his comments so strongly on our SOS, who knows. They seem to apply different criteria to each team as they see fit, totally unpredictable. |

| This is the most parity I have ever seen in lacrosse. Only the top 2 seeds drew cupcakes; every other seed can be beaten in the first round. Imagine the 3 seed getting Syracuse? I have no complaints whatsoever. Just win, baby. |

| I have no problem with who we play specifically.....but the inconsistency of the process and the handful of sphincters on laxpower do get under my skin....I can't help it. |

Chris20, good job pointing out the ESPNU anchor's willingness to grill Tony Seaman on the inconsistent application of the criteria and talking himself in circles.
If SOS and QW were important enough to keep UMass down at No. 6, they should have been important enough to get Penn State in over Princeton.
These are the things that fuel the conspiracy theories, right or wrong.

Exactly.....I don't know why I waste my time....but just once I want one of those Hopkins or UVA guys to RECOGNIZE the hypocrisy of the selection process and the fallacy of selective use of RPI and whatever other metrics are out there. Just recognize it, admit there are gross inconsistencies (which lead directly to mafia conspiracy theory).
But they won't. They just say win on the field....which I understand perfectly well, but it misses the point completely.
Thanks for all your calculations....makes it a lot of fun seeing things unfold.... |

| Playing away from Garber would not have hurt the UMies. From the number of penalties I have seen called against them they enjoy a ZERO home field advantage! The zebras seem to be afflicted with the "Lax Mafia" disease also. |

It was disappointing that no one on the selection show mentioned that UMass is ranked #1 in any poll, let alone all three. _________________ "Win without boasting, lose without crying." -- Julius Erving |

Does anyone know why Denver got in instead of Fairfield? _________________ "....I want to see our program be the UMass I know and love." - DK |

I think it was stated on the selection show that Denver had a good SOS which aided them. I could be mistaken, though. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

Yeah, I figured.... Fairfield had a better record and also beat them. Doesn't make sense.
Fairfield lost in their conference final against Loyola....
They need to make the national tourney bigger, too many good teams. _________________ "....I want to see our program be the UMass I know and love." - DK |

How big would you make it? There are only 61 D-1 teams total. _________________ Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades |

Friday is graduation day for undergraduates and the Graduate School. Stockbridge is on Saturday, so potentially campus could be very quiet indeed. |

| Looked at the official page and a number of the "Senior Recognition Ceremonies" (whatever they are, we didn't have them in the UK) are on Saturday so that could be good for attendance but could cause parking problems. |
