Saw a thread like this on another forum. Kind of a fun topic (perhaps one worthy of a sticky). Basically, people tell where they have seen UMass play and discuss the quality (or lack thereof) of those arenas, their fan bases, and the experiences they've had there.

St. Louis' old arena (just opened a new one last season; haven't been)

Not sure I can think of any others, but I feel like there has been.

89/90 - Temple - A-10 final
90/91 - Smith Center vs. GW, Fordham - NIT, Siena - NIT
92/93? - Providence CC vs. URI , Worcester CC vs. DePaul
93/94 - Madison Square Garden vs. Kansas - preseason NIT final
94/95 - Louisiana Lafayette
95/96 - Georgia Dome - vs. Arkansas, Georgetown
96/7 - Hartford CC - vs. UConn
97/8 - Erwin Center in Austin, TX vs. Texas
00/01 - Spectrum A-10 tourney, vs. Bonnies, St Joes, Temple
02/03? - Smith Center - vs. GW
08/09 - Sprint Center in Kansas City vs. Kansas

The Cage or Mullins Center are by far the best places I've seen UMass play. Most of the places I've seen UMass are fairly sterile, big arenas. There's no comparison to a gym on campus.

The Smith Center is probably my fave after The Cage and Mullins.

For non-UMass games: University of Arkansas or University of Wyoming are my faves. Really want to check out The Pit in Albuquerque sometime.

Add the Mass Mutual Center..also saw UMass vs. a Joe Smith-led Maryland team there in what was still at the time teh Abdow's Big Boy Classic. Keith Booth played for Maryland and his cousin Donta Bright was one of ours.
