After watching the Wimbledon final today it got me thinking about the abundance of epic sports games so far in 2008. I cant decide which is the best, thankfully we have online polling to decide that
Hopefully I have everything, let me know if I dont _________________ Where UMass Happens:

Why isn't "Doc Rivers getting fired" on the list?!?!?
Bah, I forgot, it hasn't happened yet!
From everything I am hearing, the Wimbeldon finals might be the best, but I'd have to go with the Super Bowl being the best since it was such an epic upset..... even if it was the most damaging and hurting losses I've ever felt.
Oh, and the Swimming Olympic trials and the new world records being set in the 100 meter dash should also be on the list. |

| I'm a little biased as a Giants fan, but I have to go with the Super Bowl. That was a great game from start to finish. It's a toss up between that and Wimbledon though. And while not the best game of the year, the Celtics game 4 comeback against the Lakers deserves an honorable mention. |

I voted for the Celtics comeback in game 4 of NBA finals...
However, I must say that the IIHF World Championship final between Russia and Canada deserved a spot on that list: Russia coming back two goals down and about 11 minutes to go in the game, with Kovalchuk tying it at about 5 mins left and then scoring the game-winner in OT was a truly epic hockey game... It is epic because Russia and Canada are the two hockey superpowers, yet, not since 1992 Winter Olympics did Russia play Canada in a game of gold medal significance (Russians won that one too, 3-1)... until this game... which took place in Quebec City, Canada, with thousands of raging Canadian hockey fans and only a handful of Russians (and if you haven't been to a hockey game in Canada, I highly recommend the experience -- especially rooting for the opposing, non-Canadian team ) Anyway, if it was on the list, it'd get my vote for those reasons.
Btw, if anyone here wants to watch it, the tape of the whole game is available for free from WCSN at this link (scroll down): http://wcsn.com/schedule/index.jsp?s=34029&e=hockey_worlds_2008 _________________ "When in doubt, use brute force." -- Ken Thompson |

I would put that, but its only at the trials and not on a championship level just yet. All of the events I included were amazing performances at the climax of the respective sports. If World Records are set that lead to Gold Medals in swimming and track, that would easily merit a spot _________________ Where UMass Happens:

| I can't believe the Celtics game 4 is getting the most votes. The Lakers were not a great team. |

It doesn't matter how good the 2008 Lakers were.
It was the Celtics-Lakers in the Finals, the first time in 21 years. The rivalry has always been intense, even when the Celtics stunk. |

in my opinion, the fantastic run to the Super Bowl Championship made by the New York Football Giants is the number 1 sports story of the millennium thus far. You may remember, they defeated the universally despised Patriots and their much hated, cheating head coach. _________________ All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

For me it is the Giants over the Pats. The Giants played 3 road games to get to the Super Bowl against teams that had played great during the year. Then figured out how to stop Brady and company. No question, Big Blue wins! _________________ "In our Country... one class of men makes war and leaves another to fight it out." ~ William T. Sherman |

| The Super Bowl is my vote. I have tried to erase that day from my memory but it has not worked yet. |

ESPN likes your poll idea. They were running a similar one last night. _________________ "Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here." |

I voted for Kansas v Memphis because:
1) I have expunged any memory of Super Bowl XLII from my memory
2) I like college basketball the best
3) It is the only one of these events (aside from the Super Bowl which, of course, has been expunged from memory) that I wathed beginning to end. |

Tiger Woods winning the US Open on one leg. That should get way more than three votes. _________________ Word to your motha! |

i agree pint, that got my vote, though the ncaa final was a close 2nd for me.
i'm not really into football or the nba, and ncaa basketball and golf are probably my two favorite sports. |

If you're going to include those then please also include that National Farting Championship and the Shin Kicking thing they do in England. _________________ And still heavyweight champ..Umass basketball! |
