I disagree. There are some real haters. Spend some time in the chat.

The chat is a joke, and not something that stays up "permanently". Big difference between this and the chat. If you're talking about internet morons, this board is relatively clean and the "hate" is far overstated and overreacted to.

And if you don't think freddie brings some of it on himself with his social media habits and history of pouting on the bench and on twitter you're nuts. His shooting percentages don't help either. it doesnt mean anyone hates him or doesnt wish him success or doesn't appreciate and respect how hard he is trying. If he can't take a little heat, he can get out of the 120k free kitchen he's in.

Who? Outside of the chatbroom, which is anonymous and transient. Which posters? Maybe there are a couple that go a little too far in their criticism, but I am not going to go crazy about people posting anonymous stuff on the Internet.

Freddie has embraced the technology of the age. He can deal with the morons that come with it. If he can't, he better learn quick....he's not a 10 year old.

How so? It's the same people. They say things in the chat they wouldn't say here. So what if it's not "permanent". It's been said. IMO there's no difference at all.

^Will "winning" this particular argument do anything except make a young man more insecure?

That's a fairly indefensible and, frankly, stupid opinion. The transient nature of the words in a chat are precisely what make it so different. Add the fact that Freddie won't see it and you have a world of difference. I'm sorry some people in the chat apparently hurt your feelings with their negativity. You and Freddie can Tweet to each other about the fellowship of the miserable and how mean they are.

Is there such thing as a stupid opinion? Didn't you just yell at people for attacking your freddie playing time opinion? Also, Shovel is right. If you are talking to someone in person, the conversation may be transient and not "permanent". But there is no guarantee that those opinions or statements stay in just that conversation or in that chat. It helps mold opinions and then those opinions come out in a more permanent fashion on a forum (for everyone to see). Or those different opinions may come out in conversations with other fans as well.

Honestly, the chat always has a couple morons kicking around, CLEARLY just spewing a bunch of crap to get a reaction. THere is a major difference between the chat and the board.

Hey Chris, I like the new avatar! The big old U brings back memories.

I have no idea what is going on in the Freddie discussion but I just wanted to say I think he is a good kid.

I didn't yell at people for "attacking [my] freddie playing time opinion". I yelled at them for completely misrepresenting what I wrote. As for stupid opinions, of course they exist. Lots of people think my opinions are stupid. I can generally defend my opinions, though. The opinion that "there is no difference at all" between the chat and the message board is a stupid opinion and is indefensible. You did not defend the opinion - you defended the opinion that the chat has some impact.

I also mentioned that things said in chat make their way to the board. Whether it is a derivative of a thought in the chat or the thought itself, when it crosses onto the board, there is no difference between the two mediums. Sure, there are some physical differences between them in that what you say in a chat isn't read as carefully perhaps and there can sometimes be general chaos involved with the topic. But that happens here too. You could say people change what they write or their opinions, but that happens here too. Lastly, you can say Freddie won't see it but who cares? I would hope people aren't posting on a message board to get his attention either, whether he reads it or not. And if he really wanted to read the chat logs he could anyway.

Sure, you get some of the trolls looking for attention. But I have frequented the chat this season and plenty of people in there are talking about basketball, whether that is as a typical fan rooting on the team or criticizing players or strategic moves. The stupid people make up less than 10% of the true conversation that goes on.

Give it up, shotput. 87 is right, he's always right, and we're all stupid, because he says so. It's just the way it is around here.
