ASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Shan Foster scored 32 points, A.J. Ogilvy added 25 and unbeaten Vanderbilt rallied for a 97-88 victory over Massachusetts on Saturday to extend the best start in school history.

UMass (11-3) led 50-41 with 16:52 remaining before Vanderbilt rallied. Foster's 3-pointer made it 66-64, and Keegan Bell followed with another to give the Commodores a 67-65 lead with 9:23 to go. They never trailed again.
Vanderbilt began to pull away when Jermaine Beal and Foster made consecutive 3-pointers, followed by a jumper by Beal and free throw by Ogilvy to push the lead to 84-72.
UMass made a final charge, chopping the deficit to 84-78 with 3:10 left on a layup and free throw by Ricky Harris.
Foster, the leading scorer in the Southeastern Conference, sealed it with a 3-pointer from the left corner with 2:29 remaining, keeping the Commodores ahead 87-78.
Harris scored 25 points, and Chris Lowe and Gary Forbes each added 22 to lead Massachusetts.
With Vanderbilt making only four of its first 16 shots, UMass raced to a 27-13 lead with 9:28 left in the first half on a free throw by Tony Gaffney.
Moments later, the Commodores reeled off a 14-0 run, igniting the Memorial Gymnasium crowd of 13,750, and grabbed their first lead of the game at 30-29 with 4:31 left in the half. Foster and Beal each scored five points in the flurry.
Foster hit four three-pointers in the first half and scored 16 points.
Harris scored 13 points in the first half to stake the Minutemen to a 37-36 halftime lead.
NOTES
UMass had three players scored 20 or more points for the first time since Feb. 20, 1999 with Ricky Harris (25), Gary Forbes (22) and Chris Lowe (22). The last time was against Xavier with the trio of Chris Kirkland (25), Monty Mack (21) and Lari Ketner (20).
Gary Forbes as scored in double-figures all 14 games this season with 22. Forbes has 10 or more in 18 games in a row.
Forbes scored more than 20 points for the ninth time in 14 games this year and 18th time in his career.
Ricky Harris scored in double-figures with the 14th time in as many games this season with a career-high tying 25. Harris had 13 at halftime. Harris has had 25 in three games, all on the road at the biggest venues, at Syracuse, Boston College and now Vanderbilt.
Harris has scored more than 20 in seven of 14 games this season.
Harris attempted a career-high 22 shots, besting his total of 20 at Syracuse (11/28/07).
Chris Lowe was also in double-figures for the eighth time this season and seventh in the last nine games with 22. It was his 17th career game with 10 or more. It was his second career-game with 20 or more points. He had a career-high 23 against Marist earlier this season.
Lowe made a career-high nine baskets, besting his total of eight done twice before.
Etienne Brower has at least eight rebounds in his last six games after grabbing nine on Saturday.

Opening statement:
"Give Vanderbilt credit for today's win. I kept telling my friends that live here that they're one of the best teams I've seen. I've seen North Carolina, UCLA, Memphis and some others. Vanderbilt has a lot of weapons. We played good basketball tonight. Our guys fought really hard, we executed our gameplan. Vanderbilt did a great job of adjusting to things we were trying to do. We made our runs. We like to run and press and I though tonight was a really exciting college basketball game. I'm disappointed that we lost. Give coach Stallings credit, he has developed some good players from Foster on down. Foster is the best player we've faced this year."
On Vanderbilt catching up in the first and second half:
"They made a lot of three-pointers. We would go on a scoring drought for a while and Vanderbilt would continue to make threes. It was just a combination of giving up three-pointers and not scoring."
On defensive effort:
"I was not happy with the overall effort we had today. I don't like to lose. Part of coaching is figuring out how to stop somebody and we didn't do that with Foster. We also kept making bad rotations with our press."
On UMASS making three-pointers:
"We've been playing some games where we haven't made many shots and won some. For us to become a great team and reach our potential, we need to make more shots, especially three-pointers."
On fatigue:
"I think both teams were fatigued throughout the game. It was a fast-paced game and both teams wanted to run. I was surprised that Ogilvy was able to play as long as he did today and have 25 points with 11 rebounds. He's an excellent player."
