all it St. Bonaventure's "NCAA Tournament birth." On the
3 1/2-hour bus trip Tuesday night from the campus in Olean, N.Y.,
to the Midwest Regional at Cleveland State, St. Bonaventure
assistant coach Tyrone Weeks called home and found out his
fiancee had gone into labor. "He said, 'Coach, I need to go
back,'" head coach Jim Baron said. "I said, 'You've got to go
back. You've got a tougher coaching job than we do. We're only
worried about Kentucky.'" The team bus pulled over in Ashtabula,
Ohio, and Weeks joined another assistant who was following in his
car. They turned around and headed back to Olean in time for
Weeks to coach Kim Sykes through the delivery of an 8-pound,
6-ounce boy named Tyrone Travis Weeks Jr. Weeks Sr. is expected
to rejoin the team before St. Bonaventure's game Thursday with
fifth-seeded Kentucky. It will be the Bonnies' first NCAA
appearance in 22 years.
