MHERST, Mass. - The UMass men’s basketball team has announced
plans for its 1999 Midnight Madness festivities, scheduled for the night of
Friday, October 15, at the Mullins Center. Admission to Midnight
Madness is free. Fans can pick up tickets for the event all next week at
the Campus Concourse in the Campus Center from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Tickets will also be available at the ticket office at Curry Hicks Cage
during the normal business hours of 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Springfield’s WGGB-TV 40 will carry Midnight Madness live from 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Sports director Scott Coen will be the master of ceremonies. Doors will open to fans at 10:30 p.m.
There will be contests, prizes (including airline tickets) and giveaways (including T-shirts). In addition, there will be fireworks and a special indoor light show. A superscreen video highlight presentation will introduce the members of the 1999-2000 team beginning at approximately 11:45 p.m. The team will take the floor officially at 12:00 a.m.
