The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (P.I.T.) named five players to expand the list of invitees to 43. Mike Wilks of Rice, Michael Hicks from Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, Samford's Marc Salyers, Colin Ducharme of Longwood and Kitwana Rhymer from Massachusetts were added.

The P.I.T. is the first of the three postseason camps for the top seniors. The 64 seniors will use the opportunity to impress the NBA, minor league and European scouts in attendance.

The P.I.T. is known for showcasing the small college players like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Dan Majerle, Charles Oakley and John Stockton.

The P.I.T. runs April 4-7 with the 64 players divided between the eight teams.

Desert Classic invitees Sean Lampley of California, Syracuse's Damone Brown and Ken Johnson from Ohio State will not play in Portsmouth and will just play at the Tempe, Arizona event.

The top players at the P.I.T. are invited to the Desert Classic. Nine of the Portsmouth players (two of whom were drafted) went on to play at the Desert Classic last season and five Portsmouth invitees were selected in the 2000 draft.
