MHERST - University of Massachusetts junior forward Etienne Brower is on crutches after spraining his left ankle in Sunday night's scrimmage, but he is expected to be ready for the season opener against Dartmouth on Nov. 11.
UMass spokesman Jason Yellin, confirmed that Brower, who sat out last year after transferring from Boston University, will miss Saturday's closed scrimmage at Albany. His status for the Minutemen's exhibition game against Bridgeport Nov. 4 is doubtful.
The 6-foot-8 junior is expected to be a candidate to start at one of the two wing positions and could see time at power forward as well.
If he doesn't return against Bridgeport, Brower would be one of two projected contributors out of action. Sophomore point guard Chris Lowe will miss that game as well as the season opener as punishment for his involvement in a fight in Amherst Oct. 6.
