+====== Yankee Conference ======
 +The Yankee Conference was a collegiate athletic conference, with members located in New England.  Massachusetts was a charter member of the conference.
 +
 +The league formed in 1946, and dissolved for basketball in 1976, although the conference continued as football-only until 1997.  In basketball, Massachusetts went from the Yankee Conference to the ECBL (Eastern Collegiate Basketball League), which transformed into the Eastern 8 and ultimately into the Atlantic 10.
 +
 +Massachusetts won nine Yankee Conference championships in men's basketball: 1961-62, 1967-68, 1968-69, 1969-70, 1970-71, 1972-73, 1973-74, 1974-75, 1975-76.  All of those were regular-season championships, as the league did not hold a post-season tournament.
 +
 +Boston University was a full member from the 1971-72 season until the conference abandoned basketball after the 1975-76 season.  BU continued in the league playing football.
