====== Yankee Conference ======
The Yankee Conference was a collegiate athletic conference, with members located in New England.  Massachusetts was a charter member of the conference.

The league formed in 1946, and dissolved for basketball in 1976, although the conference continued as football-only until 1997.  In basketball, Massachusetts went from the Yankee Conference to the ECBL (Eastern Collegiate Basketball League), which transformed into the Eastern 8 and ultimately into the [[atlantic_10|Atlantic 10]].

Massachusetts won nine Yankee Conference [[championships]] in men's basketball: [[season_1961-62|1961-62]], [[season_1967-68|1967-68]], [[season_1968-69|1968-69]], [[season_1969-70|1969-70]], [[season_1970-71|1970-71]], [[season_1972-73|1972-73]], [[season_1973-74|1973-74]], [[season_1974-75|1974-75]], [[season_1975-76|1975-76]].  All of those were regular-season championships, as the league did not hold a post-season tournament.

[[opponent_boston_university|Boston University]] was a full member from the 1971-72 season until the conference abandoned basketball after the 1975-76 season.  BU continued in the league playing football.
