With the 66-62 victory over Saint Joseph's, #19/19 UMass is 122-30 all-time as a ranked team.
The Minutemen are now 18-20 all-time and 5-1 under Coach Kellogg in Atlantic 10 Conference play openers.
The Minutemen trailed Saint Joseph's by a season high nine points and are now 4-1 when trailing at the break. The contest marked their fifth time trailing an opponent this season.
Massachusetts now holds a five game winning streak at home against the Hawks and has a 11-1 program record against Saint Joseph's when ranked.
Putney was 0-2 from three in the first half however his first attempt of the second stanza was good bringing the score to 35-31, sparking a 7-0 run to start the half.
Kellogg's bench outscored the Hawks' reserves 18-0, marking the second time this season UMass has shut down the opposing bench.
The Massachusetts' attack was once again led by Chaz Williams with 22 points on the night. Williams has now scored 20 points or more in four games this season and now has 28, 20-plus point games in his career.
The Minutemen had five forced turnovers from the press and scored nine points off of them. This is the second straight game with five forced turnovers via the press.
