Pre-season report from Head Coach Derek Kellogg: “Matt Hill's been great, and he's given us everything he can every day. He's a 6'7”, long athletic kid who can play a little bit inside and some outside. He's shooting the ball much better. His attitude's been fantastic, he's a kid that you love to have around your program, and I'm excited to see what he can bring to the table in the real game setting.”

2007-08 Freshman year

Pre-season report from Head Coach Travis Ford: “Matt is still coming off a very serious injury last year and is just trying to get better everyday. He is coming in very rusty and has just got to continue to work on all aspects of his game, but I really like his work ethic and if he continues to do that he will be fine. He is a young man who really impressed me this past summer. He is a four-man who can step out and shoot it and who can also step out and take bigger players on one on one. He is very active on the court whether it be rebounding, blocking shots, or posting up.”

  • Scored first UMass points on a 3-pointer against CCSU (12/22)
  • Hit a basket against La Salle (3/5)
