Date Opponent Game Results High Scorer High Rebounder Overall A10 UM Opp
11/5 UMass-Lowell W 79-64 Weeks (23) Tre Mitchell (9) 1-0 Some sloppy stints, and Lowell hung in there for most of it, but UM breaks away with a 12-3 run to clinch it. Weeks shines in college debut, shooting 8-12 overall and 4-6 from three. Diallo plays hard thru strep throat, adding 12 & 7. Pierre 13 pts. East 11 pts, 6 assists. Tre Mitchell 10 pts, 9 rebs.
11/9 at Fairfield W 62-60 Tre Mitchell (18) Tre Mitchell (7) 2-0 At Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport CT.1) UM gets off to promising 16-8 start, then allows Fairfield a 31-13 run over the next 16 minutes. UM regroups, finds the right combo on the floor, and holds on for the first road win in 11 months. Pierre & Clergeot only score 5 combined, but the underclassmen step up: Tre, East with 14/5/7, Diallo 12 & 6, Weeks 9 & 6.
11/12 Northeastern W 80-71 Tre Mitchell (20) Tre Mitchell (6) 3-0 UM's team effort shuts down Jordan Roland, who only scores 14, after averaging 40.5 to start the season. Tre 8-15 from the floor, Pierre finds it again with 18. East 17 pts / 7 assists / 4 steals, and swishes a 75 footer to end the first half.
11/16 Central Connecticut W 89-43 Clergeot (20) Baptiste (12) 4-0 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off, Campus Game. UM capitalizes against a young, travel-weary CCSU team, jumping out to a 9-2 lead early, then 39-18 at the half. UM's largest margin of victory since 1995.2) Clergeot hits 7-8 from the floor, East delivers 15-3-6, Diallo 13 & 6. Baptiste's 12 boards a new career high. Tre Mitchell limited to 17 minutes with some foul trouble.
11/20 Rider W 82-72 Pierre (23) Diallo (6) 5-0 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off, Campus Game. Rider keeps it close with +12 on the glass (19 offensive), but UM rips a 12-1 run in the second to add some distance. Pierre leads with a season high. Weeks adds 21 on 7-8 shooting (6-6 from 3). Diallo, East, Tre all add 10 points.
11/23 vs Virginia L 58-46 Pierre (14) Diallo (8) 5-1 7 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off, at Mohegan Sun Arena. A combination of VA's killer defense, and UM shots that refused to fall (30% overall, 19% from 3), and UM's bid to pull the major upset gets thwarted. UM cut a 16-point first half deficit to just 3 early in the second, but went ice cold again, hitting no shots in over 14 minutes.
11/24 vs St. John's L 78-63 Weeks (19) Tre Mitchell (12) 5-2 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off, at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tre throws down a two-handed dunk to put UM up 8 in the second, then it all fell apart, as SJU switches to a matchup zone defense and UM shoots 5-29 (17%) the rest of the way. Double-double for Tre (14 points). Weeks gets 17 in the first half but no field goals in the second. Pierre quiet with 8 points, 2-8 shooting.
11/29 at Rutgers L 82-57 Weeks (19) Tre Mitchell (9) 5-3 Weeks gets the start and delivers the with 19 & 7. Chatman shakes off the rust and scores 16 on 7-11 shooting. Mitchell held to 6 points on 3-10 shooting, Pierre 7 on 2-12. East 6 pts, 6 assists, but kept in check with 5 turnovers. RU shoots 53% and dominates down low with 54 points in the paint.
12/4 South Carolina L 84-80 Tre Mitchell (17) Pierre (9) 5-4 Gamecocks break UM's trap defense, getting open looks en route to 55% shooting (season high), 62% on two-pointers, and 52 points in the paint. UM's 19 turnovers also hurt, 5 each for Chatman & Tre. East scores 16, Weeks 15, Pierre 13.
12/7 at Harvard L 89-55 Tre Mitchell (13) Baptiste, Chatman (5 each) 5-5 UM offers little defense as Harvard's 89 points are the most on a non-conf opponent in almost six years. Crimson out-rebound UM 40-27, shoot 58% from the floor and 42% from 3. Pierre hits a 3 in the opening minute, but only 1 other FG the rest of the day (2-10 overall). Weeks 3-10, East 1-5.
12/11 Yale L 83-80 (OT) Pierre (26) Tre Mitchell (9) 5-6 Yale got off to a 34-22 lead but UM woke up with a 23-6 run into the second half. UM led by 7 with 3:55 left in regulation, but hit no more field goals in the second half, and Yale forced the OT. UM stayed cold in OT, shooting 1-6 until garbage time. Pierre (26 a career high, 9-15 overall, 8-12 from 3) and Mitchell (24 pts career high) carry the team, but TJ Weeks (abdominal injury) a key missing piece.
12/20 Maine W 74-53 Tre Mitchell (23) Diallo & Tre Mitchell (7 each) 6-6 Tre leads the show, nearly tying his career high in points, shooting 9-17 overall, 3-6 from three. Minutemen go on a 23-3 run in the first half and Maine can't catch up. Pierre 14 points, East 12. CJ adds 10 points in his first significant action.
12/30 at Akron L 85-79 East (26) Pierre (10) 6-7 Akron built a 17-point lead in the first, but UM fought back to make it a game in the second. Walker's first action and points of the season came with a 3 with 15 seconds left to make it a 2-pt game, but Akron hit FTs to seal it. Pierre scores 23 for his first career double-double. Tre limited to 11 & 2 in 19 foul-plagued minutes. Weeks still out.
1/5 at Saint Louis L 83-80 (OT) Tre Mitchell (20) Diallo (14) 6-8 0-1 UM had an 8-point lead with 13:45 to play, but SLU flipped it with a 18-2 run in just 3:11. UM forces OT and takes a 5-point lead, but goes cold and misses the upset chance. Tre 20 & 9, but mixed bag with 5-15 shooting and 6 turnovers. East 18 points but on 7-22 shooting. Pierre adds 16 pts, Diallo 11. Kolton Mitchell returns.
1/8 La Salle W 77-69 Pierre (20) Diallo (12) 7-8 1-1 Pierre shoots 7-8 / 5-5 and joins the UM career 1000 point club. Tre Mitchell adds 19 & 6. Diallo tallies a double double with 12 points, plus adds 6 assists and 3 steals. East 11 pts, Keon 9. Threes the difference: UM 9-16, La Salle 6-27.
1/11 at Dayton L 88-60 Tre Mitchell (16) Tre Mitchell (7) 7-9 1-2 15 The first 5 minutes summed it up: 4 turnovers, 4 fouls, 3 missed shots, and UM started off in a 9-0 hole. Dayton way too talented for UM, building a 48-22 lead by halftime. Toppin 16 points in 19 minutes for UD, plus 5 other Flyers in double-figures. UM gets stolen 12 times, and turns it over 21 times, including 9 by East.
1/15 at St. Bonaventure L 74-61 Tre Mitchell (28) Diallo (8) 7-10 1-3 Game in Rochester NY, alternate home court for SBU. Tre dominates with a career high 28 on 11-19 shooting. Pierre shoots 4-10 and scores 11, but rest of team goes silent on offense, including East 1-9, Diallo 1-5. Bona wins the glass by 7, and shoots better from 3 (47%) than 2 (43%).
