Had signed with VCU during the November 2022 signing period, but that was while Mike Rhoades was the coach for VCU.⁴⁾ Rhoades took the Penn State job in the 2023 offseason, and Foster decommitted from VCU.
Spent the 2022-23 season at Putnam Science Academy and helped lead the squad to a National Prep Championship.
Played four years at Cardinal Hayes High School, averaging 16 points and six rebounds as a senior while helping the team to a 26-3 record. Cardinal Hayes finished the season with a state championship and a no. 7 national ranking by MaxPreps.
In AAU, was a standout for Coach Mugsy Leggett and the New York Wiz Kids.⁵⁾
Also received offers from Mississippi State, Kent State, and Bryant.⁶⁾ Other interest included Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, and Pitt.⁷⁾

Took a stray bullet in his right calf in June 2021. Recovered in less than two weeks and dedicated himself to improving on the basketball court and academically.⁸⁾
