Re: 1/29/17 poll - Fire DK?

^ It kinda makes me wonder who Hoop It Up actually is IRL. Maybe DK himself

I posted a few years ago and supported DK. Two years later we went to the tournament for the first time in 15 years. I would like to see him get the same support again and my hope would be that we ...

Re: 1/29/17 poll - Fire DK?

I hope to see DK back. I base this on knowing that he led us to the NCAA's not long ago and has the capacity as coach to get us to the post season again. He will have a talented team that will have a greater sense of how to play with each other. DK has a passion for UMASS that will not be matched by ...

2010 League Runner Up in NEPSAC and in 2011 didn't have a great year but had a player sign with UCONN and Kansas. Not too bad there.

I would take Bruce Pearl here in a second. All his baggage, and this game asside, he is a great recruiter, great in game coach, and he is as enthusiatic about the game as you can be. He has a personality that could even get our fanbase excited.

I don't like him but the guy can coach. No argument ...

Re: Maybe Steve Lappas was right?

In my opinion as a coach this is the most overrated and over-hyped quality in today's game. Too many times on recruiting website and on TV you hear about a kid's "length". If a kid had a huge wing span that's great but I've seen kids with long arms who couldn't handle, shoot or defend. Length should ...

I would guess DK comes back next year. I hope he does and that is not just because I like him as a person and coach. If I were the AD at Umass my thinking would be "my coach was young and inexperienced over the last three years just like a good chunk of his players during that same time period. So I ...

Ricky is probably a pipe dream now with Pitt and Kentucky recently getting heavily involved. Also, Ricky's teammate Jules Tavares at Wilbraham and Monson took an unofficial visit to UCONN recently.

Looking forward to watching Derek's team mature this year and looking forward to seeing Swampy in the crowd once or twice in my neck of the woods.

Nerlens is going to be part of a really good team at Tilton this year. I talked to him a few weeks ago and he knows Shannon Crooks a little so maybe he'll keep Umass in mind but he is really going to shoot up in the rankings over the next month. He had a good July but he is still very raw.

Some people call Ricardo "Rickey". Would be a great get for UMASS.

Another player on Rick's AAU team, Jules Tavarez from Wareham, is starting to get some interest at the Mid Major level. He is class of 2012 and will be attending Wilbraham and Monson Academy.

A few things, Derek is going nowhere and I believe he has a 6 year contract, so he has 4 more years.

Secondly Derek or any coach in this situation would NEVER stay on staff as an Assistant. NEVER! If UMass did that and I was the head coach I would say F-U UMass, pay me my four remaining years ...

If Hewitt leaves GA Tech and Tubby says no thanks to Tech then Barbee could be in play down there as well. If Tubby were to leave Minnesota Barbee could be in the mix there also. It all depends on how bad he wants to relocate. He'd be a solid hire at any of those places with his Midwest roots and ...

I'm amazed that the kid's SAT scores would be divulged like that. Why is that kind of stuff available as part of Georgia's open record laws???!

And besides, what does it matter? If he passed the second time, and it was enough to get in and meet the requirements, what business is it of ESPN or ...
