Re: Game 18, 2024-25: at Fordham (1/15)
I'm proud of the team for not quitting when things got bad in the 3rd OT. I wasn't able to watch the game, so I don't have any comments, just getting my info from the box score and play-by-play. Looks like we got good contributions from Nate and Akil in OT.
Can someone please tell me exactly what ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
^ I guess my post was more for the "we're gonna become the Gonzaga of the MAC!" crowd. The MAC's best team in the last 40 years was a 13 seed in 2018 and a 6 seed in 2019, and then sank like a rock. We're just as likely to become 90's Umass as we are "the Gonzaga of the MAC". My biggest concern in ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
My biggest concern is that a MAC championship gets the winner a 6 seed in the Big Dance mainly on the basis of SoS. An at-large bid is dependant on an aggressive OOC schedule with some solid wins and a good showing in the conference championship game and a lot of crossed fingers. Prospects of an ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
^In order for this to be a "stepping stone" destination, the school needs to make a much bigger commitment to the football program. McGuirk needs either an extreme facelift/expansion, or a complete rebuild. 5 years from now, a 7-6 Umass team fresh off their Ruffles Potato Chip Bowl victory isn't ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
The question Is, if and when Frank Martin decides to leave, does Umass continue to pay $1.7 million/year for a MAC basketball coach? Here's the top 5 coaching salaries in the MAC in 2023:
1 - John Groce (Akron) - $650k
2 - Jeff Boals (Ohio) - $581k
3 - Tony Barbee (C. Michigan) - $420k
4 - Michael ...

Re: Halftime Recognition of Herndon, Williams and Tate
The appearance of Tate, Herndon and Williams was promoted by us pretty heavily on on socials, our podcast, our email list and this board. They weren’t honored at half, but at the under 12 timeout. It was a surprise to them that we coordinated with UMass as we hosted them in our Loge Suite for the ...

Re: Game 25, 2022-23: at La Salle (2/11)
Floyd, as is usually the case, people aren't just mad because UMass is losing, the details matter. The team has regressed during the season, and you can't chalk it all up to injuries, or inexperience, or being unfamiliar with each other, or whatever other excuse someone wants to come up with ...

Re: Game 25, 2022-23: at La Salle (2/11)
Holy shit people, what the fuck. Look around at the good teams, the majority are experienced groups that have played and developed together. Continuity, experience, and team systems.

He was going the prep route but reclassified to come here. It would've been pretty shitty to turn around and redshirt him

Re: 2023 Recruiting
From Howard Herman of The Berkshire Eagle:
Apologies. I was unable to Tweet during the Darrow-Brewster game. FYI, UMass commit Sawyer Mayhugh had 24 points and 16 rebounds in a 61-58 win over Darrow. His fastbreak basket with 2:02 left in the second half put Brewster ahead for keeps. He can play.

^^. The problem is the beating of the dead horse here with the "UMass NET with Martin/UMass NET without Martin", then claiming "Im not bashing Brandon, I'm criticizing Frank", and Im gonna call bull***t on that one. What about Keon, who had the 3rd worst NET in the conference as of the end of ...
