Re: 2023 Game 3: Miami OH

I don't know whose idea it is to have home games at 3:30. Never had them when I started going to the games. Screws up dinner plans for after the games and here for me as we like to go out on a Sat to eat around 5. Whoever in Amherst that made that decision should be tared and feathered and run out ...

Re: Series Against Harvard

Pretty clear that it is about attendance and brand. H stadium is much larger and those games could draw bigger crowds at H for both teams.

Remember this is all pre-ESPN and sports channels, one had to attend the game or listen to the radio only. I really doubt much, if any, $$ exchanged hands at ...

Series Against Harvard

How come UMass only hosted Harvard once in football?
Was Harvard paying UMass guarantee money for all these games?

I do not believe that band scholarships play any role in athletic Title IX requirements. It's not an NCAA sport or part of the athletic department.

Re: Women's Team

In a nut shell, Title IX requires that: whatever the men get, the women get two! If the men's hockey team plays in the Bill, a women's team would also have to play there too.

Title IX means that a WIH team would need to be provided an equal arena situation, not necessarily the same arena. As ...

Re: 21-22 Season

Wondering about the home game vs. La Salle originally scheduled for Jan. 9 and postponed. I haven't seen any info on the UMass, La Salle or A-10 sites about a reschedule. Time is short, of course, and I don't know if there's any opportunity to drop it in, for example, between the end of the ...

URI's talent level is significantly better than UMass.
UMass doesn't have the perimeter shooting to attack the URI zone.
UMass doesn't have frontcourt depth to match URI's best players.

Re: If a FB only inquiry is made to UMass - your preference

I would have liked to have seen UMass become a power within the MAC the first time around. If given the opportunity as a football only member a 2nd time, I say take it. They have similar size stadiums/resources. UMass needs to build the program over several years.

Re: Texas/Oklahoma official announce moving to the SEC

The MAC wanted full participation. We have no clue what the MAC wants now or will want moving forward.

When UMass originally signed to enter the MAC, Temple was also in the league as a football only member. Apparently the contract with UMass stipulated that if Temple were to leave MAC football ...
