Re: 2025 Recruiting
I'm liking how this roster is coming together. Am planning to be in the Knoxville area for at least the next year or so and some of those Ohio MAC schools are a reasonable drive. I look forward to seeing this team live and in person, actually.

Re: Portal MBB 2025
I really like DHS, but this puts a lot of pressure on Frank to find complementary pieces because DHS is not a reliable 3pt shooter and he can’t consistently play center.
You cannot have DHS on the floor with Ndjigue/Rivera and some center who can’t make 3s… it gets even worse if your PG can’t ...

Re: Portal MBB 2025
Is that after a Frank assessment of his role next year, or did he just decide it was a bad fit for his game?Juice Stand wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 10:56 am ^Ha ha, and just like that...Akil Watson has entered the portal: https://twitter.com/acsamaha/status/1907096990514585892

Re: Portal MBB 2025
TJ Power is back in the portal after failing to crack Virginia's rotation. Maybe 3rd team's a charm?

Re: KAEO Reggie (RJ) Luis
^ yeah, really frigging sad. I do think there will be mid-majors in there occasionally, Florida Gulf Coasts will still happen, but it's clear the divide between the haves and have nots has increased.

Re: NCAA Tournament
Oh man, I missed that. That does seem harsh doing him dirty like that on a big broadcast. I only heard him briefly talk about his umass time when they said Garcia was a transfer.
I look forward to Garcia having a better game tomorrow, he didn't look good, other than a FT that helped seal the ...

So good to see that! I assume Kellogg's focus is the guards at Creighton? I've watched Ashworth for most of his career, and it seems like he's really grown at Creighton. Betting Kellogg has a lot to do with that.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 1:34 pm Bye Bye Pat Kelsey! Knocked out, in part, by our own Derek Kellogg!

Re: NCAA Tournament
Boise State belongs in and probably SMU (Matt Cross and Josh Cohen you both shoulda stayed)
Agreed, the best 3 teams in the MW right now are UNM, Colorado State, and Boise State. Utah State and San Diego St will make the Mountain West look worse than they really are.
On the selections, they ...

Re: Coach Frank Martin
Agree that continuity and stability are key, but am definitely concerned about excess player turnover because of his coaching style. I will concede that a players coach like McCall had just as much turnover.

When you get a Calipari at UMass or Few at Gonzaga, you can make some exceptions to that. Consistent winning begets donations/winning.NilesGold wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 11:35 am ^ Like I said, this is a game that now seems funded and ultimately decided, by the ultra wealthy.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
NIL world is definitely a tough place for a coach like Martin. Even though I think he's a great teacher, his style will definitely wear on kids after a year or two. On the kids he's most successful with, he'll enable them to make the big bucks in programs that can afford it. He's like military prep ...

Is there another Frank Martin son joining next year? Maybe Frank is referring to the start of his era?
