Re: Big 12 - BIG NEWS!

My Opinion:

Big 12 expands to 14 teams, inviting BYU, Colorado State/Houston in the West, and Memphis and Cincinnati in the east. Fed Ex sponsors a Big 12 championship game thanks to Memphis joining. AAC adds UMass, Army and Rice. This basically keeps the balance of the conference. If anyone is the ...

Re: Conference realignment 3.0

If a C-USA team gets an AAC spot then UMass would look to jump in and fill that opening in C-USA. Not an ideal fit but not the worst either. That's an option to consider.

I think UMass' proximity to TV sets and academic profile will help it out if it comes down to it though.

That sounds good for ...

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

Playing home games any where that is not in the town of AMHERST is a mistake. We have lived with what 4 seasons of Foxboro football. No one shows up to the Springfield hoops game why would they show up for football? Also, what major tours are coming to springfield when they can go to Boston, or Mo ...

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

Why not do what LSU did back in the day and just include dorms or classrooms in the expansion for multipurpose usage?

http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/01/postcard-from-l-s-u-when-a-stadium-was-a-dorm/?_r=0

I also like the idea of a stadium in Springfield.

1. The state could put funds ...

I'm too lazy to look this up, but is this senior class officially the most losingest in Umass football history?

Re: KAEO Bruce Brown (2016)

Maybe Tom Crean being on thin ice has Bruce's attention... or he genuinely just isn't read to make his decision yet.

Knowing that he is now going to wait, I wonder what would leave a worse impression on him, Crean being fired or UMass being awful this year? Probably would depend on who IU hires to ...

Re: State of the Program

While watching the Dayton game one thing really stood out (besides their level of play in comparison to our team), the quality of appearance their arena has. The Mullins Center looks horrible on television. Hopefully one day they'll finally replace the rolling ad scoring table and upgrade to an ...

Re: State of the Program

What an end to the season. Epic collapse by this team. They went from being on the bubble and first place in the A-10, to losing 7 of their last 8 games and totally missing post season play. Just pitiful.

This choke job is completely on DK. First off, no matter how well he plays in certain games ...

Re: Conference realignment 3.0

It looks like the Big12 will be adding at least two more schools. BYU has shown interest in joining, and I would imagine they have the most appeal. The question is who will be the second school. I don't see both Memphis and Cincinnati going together, so where does that leave the AAC if only one ...

Re: Game 6, 2014-15: Northeastern

I might be crazy, but it is northeastern. I love the fear on this board sometimes. They beat Florida state by 3 and we beat them by 6. I know, I know, their game was at Florida State. We should not lose to Northeastern regardless of their 4-0 record.

Sorry, couldn't find a link

Northeastern ...

UMass actually would be a perfect fit for him. Up and coming program with a fast paced system and close to his home. Would BC and Providence really use up a scholarship for a 1 year player with discipline issues? I dont think UMass would, and neither would those other programs. The difference with ...

There has been some talk on the Maroon Musket regarding new turf at McGuirk. It looks like this is indeed something the University is working on. On their construction site, there is an open bid for updated turf for the football field.

In that Globe article, I can't believe Boston University had more sports revenue than UMass ($30 TO 29M) I guess b/c they don't have football as a cash drain!

That was surprising, but revenue is total money brought in, unlike profit, which would take into account costs such as football. Somehow ...
