Wake me up when someone plays the PERFECT game and dominates for 40 minutes. And some on here will still bitch about something.

Really? Come on ... We won by 14 against a program that made the tourny last year!

Accuscore had our correct total, but missed NMS score by 13. UMass must have done something. Oh, that's right, we lost the second half by 7.

If they would have won by 42 should they have won by 50? Come on it is a good win.

Great win. Awesome D. . .and I have the opposite view point of the other guy. For us to not let a 21 point lead slip to even being under 10 is awesome. Great defense. Hope we don't walk into TCU too over-confident.

I'm impressed that they did well against such a big team - still want to see how we play against teams with a dominant 3 ball - which New Mexico State does not have. We played Rider well in the second half, but certainly let up a lot of 3's in the first and also let up a lot of 3's against Brandeis. Otherwise, we look awesome!

You havw got to be kidding me! Get the hell out of here! We played great in the first half you can't expect the whole game to go like that...we just beat a pretty damn good team by double figures. As for Bailey and putney...the guys who are earning the time are getting the minutes..even Freddie didn't play a ton. Mr. Farrell makes a HUGE difference in this game. Way to go guys! Best performance since we beat a top 25 Dayton team in Springfield two years ago! Careful there, I said best performance...maybe not best win (ie. Memphis, Kansas, @ Charlotte), but definitely the best they have played in the style they want to play. Very impressed with the offense, defense, rebounding and sub rotation tonight. The only thing I come home wanting is DK to get on the refs just a little bit! At times it seems he's almost scared to say anything. I can live with it though! Great job UMass! See ya Monday night...hopefully some others decide to come to because the attendence all day was laughable/pathetic.

I think what happened to that Lappas team was that they had a trip to Greece before the season and were just more ready than the other teams when the season started. When the other teams got in synch, end of the story for us.

The other thing I like is that we're a tough team to cover. If Freddie goes off and you focus on him, you have to worry about Sampson, if Sampson goes off you and you focus on him you have to worry about TV, if TV goes off and you focus on him, you have to worry about Farrell...not to mention Gurley consistently.

Gurley I think has taken his game to another level and quieted any doubts about him being about to carry and lead the team this year. Great to see, I feel very confident with the ball in his hands just like RH5 last year, different styles but same confidence for me. He's taking the ball to the hoop and finishing well and not settling for 3's, but when he does take one it's in rhythm and he's making them consistently.

Just back from the game and am very, very pleased about out performance. Ferrell is that rare guy who brings 100 percent intensity every single second he's on the floor. Guys feed off of him. He's going to be a great one if he can stay healthy. His offense has also improved a great deal and he can play almost any position on the floor and in any different setting. Gurley was fantastic. TV and Sean played worlds better tonight and that was really encouraging. Sampson and Freddy were both solid and both point guards were stellar defensively, but struggled offensively. Only concern was Big City, who during the time out with 4 or so minutes to go left the huddle for the bench a tad early, head in jersey. The kid looked really, really upset. I felt bad for him, but I couldn't quite understand what he was so upset about. Also unsure why Putney didn't get in the game; he has too much talent to not get in for even a few minutes. Overall, a really encouraging performance, but an absolutely dead crowd. Place was silent and I think the team could have played even better if it fed off of an enthusiastic crowd. Would love to go to 4-0, but we are still going to have to bring it against TCU.

Umass91, are you saying we shouldve won by 42 because we were up by 21 at half? We won the game comfortably, the closest they got was 12 in the second half. What more do you want from a team that is expected to finish 9th in the A-10? This was the most complete performance I've seen from a UMass team in 3 years. I couldnt be happier for the team and DK. Some people will never be happy.

I know the game ended relatively recently and that it was a Saturday night game so maybe casual fans were out doing other things, but it's amazing how many fewer posts we have after an excellent win than we do after a shitty win. Some people, it seems, only chime in when there's something especially shitty to discuss. Just throwing it out there...

Yes I noticed certain people dont post when we have nice wins. Strange. Maybe they arent fans, but trollers. It;s almost like they enjoy when Umass doesnt play well. They must be alot of fun to be around at home.

It has to be 1 of 3 things for why Putney didn't play.

1. There's some sort of suspension we don't know about.
2. An injury we don't know about.
3. He just has not gotten the job done in practice and didn't earn the minutes.

I'm going guess it was number 3. Also, have to figure that Farrell's minutes have to come from somebody and Putney is a likely person.

I would agree with the above - was thinking the same thing. Sort of strange to hear about City - maybe he was pissed at himself.
