Game 6, 2011-12: Utah (Atlantis Game 2)
Another work in progress that may take the rest of the non-conference slate is playing aggressive defense without fouling. Teams are getting in the bonus way too early against us.
Liked to see the team hit shots tonight. Might be a factor of being used to the surroundings in the arena. Watched the FSU game today and it just seemed like players on both sides had trouble getting comfortable with the ball (really bouncy) and backdrop in the first half. Today, UMass seemed much more comfortable on the floor.

I somewhat agree. My only point is that in my opinion, I don't think taking 30 3-pointers is a winning strategy. Tonight it was.ktabz16 wrote:i disagree 78, i thought we did a good job penetrating at least to the high post against the zone. that's partly how we hit 15 of our 30 3's.

Correct, we hit 16 (on 35 attempts) against the Duqies on 2/25/2009uz2b-len wrote:One made three pointer short of the school record of 16.

Derek Kellogg has said the exact same thing about taking so many 3's. Why is he always complaining after big wins? He must hate UMass.Swampy wrote:I wondered what the first complaint would be after a blowout win. Now I know.
Go UMass indeed!
Well, you always have that bullshit line to fall back on old buddy.78 wrote:Swampy -- we all know by now that you are the best fan in the world. You also are insufferable.Swampy wrote:I wondered what the first complaint would be after a blowout win. Now I know.
My only point being, taking 30 three-pointers a game is not a sound strategy in my opinion. But, no one but the almighty Swampy can have an opinion on this board because he is the only one who knows how to be a fan. I just wish I could be as perfect as he.
Bottom line is that the first thing you have to say after a fucking blowout win in a TV tournament is what the team did wrong!
Call me all the names you want if it makes you feel better but ya gotta know that the uber fan bullshit is pretty old stuff. How about you just once come on here with something positive to say about the only UMass team playing well and having a good season to date. Lord knows there will be plenty of games to piss and moan about as the season progresses.
Cady went in and had a rebound stripped out of his hands, as has happened often before, and back to the bench he went. I guess he's gonna have to solve that bad habit if he wants to get back in Kellogg's good graces.Old Cage wrote:Why no Cady? Maxie getting the minutes?

Swampy -- you might want to read my post again. Did I praise the fact they were lighting it up behind the arc? Did I praise Jesse? Did I even praise Freddie? The answer is yes to all three of those. And guess what, even the coach said he thinks they are taking too many threes. Guess DK is just another bad fan.
By the way, I deleted that post about 90 seconds after I posted it, because I thought there was no need for it. But since you did see it, I will not hesitate to respond in kind to you.
And just for the record, these were the first two things in my post after the game: Nice win against an atrocious team. Nice to see a lot of the guys lighting it up from outside the arc

Nice win against an atrocious team.
Nice to see a lot of the guys lighting it up from outside the arc, but that kind of basketball will get this team nowhere.
I hate live by the three die by the three basketball, but it looks like that is what we are stuck with this year.
Morgan was unconscious in the first half and Freddie started hitting when the lead was big. Still wish there was some semblance of an inside game and some semblance of running plays on offense.
Yeah, I see where you did the praise thingy.

We are in the early statges of this season, so a win is a win. These games are giving the kids a chance to play together and hopefully gel. We will find out how good they are in the A-10 schedule. Games against teams this bad provide little info on what the upside of this team is, but does provide them with a chance to get in game experience. The teams we won against so far are terrible. Absolutely horrible. Still, I am glad we are at least not horrible. Lets see how good we can be by the end of the season.78 wrote:Good night, superfan.Swampy wrote:Nice win against an atrocious team.

I noticed that too. Seems they are trying to get Andrew some experience. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him tomorrow and against Towson.Chizzle wrote:Anyone know why Matt Hill doesn't get ANY

Trey Lang doesn't seem to be dressed for the games I have seen.
Strange to have a surplus of big guys and only four guards this year.
