The status of student buses before the game was that there wouldn't be any, but hopefully that will change now...InnervisionsUMASS wrote:Refuse2Lose83 wrote:Saturday is going be amazing!!!! Are there student buses going?!?!
It was still a "maybe" when I saw it earlier, but I'd have to imagine after tonight that the demand will pick up quickly.
Game 8, 2013-14: BYU (Springfield)
I'll be there +3. Terrified of BYUs ability to shoot it, but I think Cady and our athleticism (in that order) are going to be the story of this game.Marty Peretz wrote:Everyone's excited for this one, but who else is actually attending? If we don't sell it out, I'll be disappointed. Or at least come within a few hundred of a sellout.
Bought 2 tickets today for myself and one of my good friends, think we will be meeting 2 others there...first time seeing UMass play in person this season and I honestly couldn't be more excited.
The last 2 times I saw UMass play in person were the home losses to Temple and Butler last year, so I'm definitely pumped to get out to Springfield on Saturday and erase those memories.
I was gonna ask about a good bar to go to beforehand, but someone already mentioned Mcaffreys...is that the general consensus among people who will be in Springfield?

I'll be there +2 at the moment that number could rise.
Seriously though, everyone needs to seriously consider going not just as umass fans but as college basketball fans and general. Two of the best, fastest playing teams in the country. Both teams could break 100. This game will be incredibly fun to watch.

I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.
BAR: I agree JT's is not a bad option. It is a block North of MMC. McCafferty's is a 1/2 block south of MMC, both on Main Street. McCaff's is a little bigger. I just called and they regularly open at Noon. I will follow up with the GM tomorrow as our game is at 1:30 and if we get a group together they will probably open earlier.
PARKING: There is street parking around MMC (mostly metered) and public parking in a multilevel garage and single level outdoor on Falcon Way. Expect about $10 there, but safe and close. There is also a free lot across from Springfield's main library on State Street. It is a couple blocks walk I wouldn't recommend for seniors, but I have never had a problem there. Some of you Dad's may recognize it if you have been to the Springfield Quadrangle Museums with the Dr. Suess exhibits.
The area downtown is not great (safe), but for a day game I wouldn't anticipate any problems.
The Fort/Student Prince Bar/Restaurant for an after game meal I would also recommend. You'll probably find SignMan there. Red Rose Pizza on Main to the South is about the best in the city also.
PM if you have any specific questions.
