30 points in 4 minutes has to be some sort of record.

Walton and Kareem on the ucla broadcast is very entertaining

What a phenomenal performance by Rathan-Mayes, wow!

As for Walton's commentating, people either love it or hate it - he's completely one of a kind and I'm a fan. The USC vs Oregon game earlier this season was his highlight of the year. There was a moment where for 10 minutes straight he didn't even talk about the game once, just kept ranting about Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead and the play by play announcer was clearly annoyed. He then said, "Alright Bill, lets go back to the game" and Bill was like this ain't radio, the people can still watch the game...then, he said Okay, now to announce SportsCenter is next, and Bill goes.. "Who cares! SportsCenter is always on next..," which is very true. At the end of the game, USC down 3, they come out of a timeout and chuck up a 3, and we hear Bill say, "That is one of the top 5 worst plays in USC basketball history." He just blurts out things, that no other color commentator would. Of course, this is also the game, he kept calling the one guy from Oregon Snoop Dogg the entire game and said that Michael Jordan was basically average. He was in one hell of a mood that night - Most people hated him that night, there were many, many reactions going around social media.

Here's a video of some Bill Walton highlights from that game, will probably make it easier hah - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGKRK2F5YvY

Bill Walton is awesome. UMass hosted a "Grateful Dead conference/reunion" type thing in 2007 and he was one of the speakers on the panel. He told awesome stories, and stayed after to talk to people and I got a picture with him as a student. He had to leave for Bristol for an NBA show and his people had to literally tear him away. He just wanted to stay and talk to people and tell Grateful Dead stories. True original.
I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

Wow, didn't know that, that is an awesome off-topic UMass story right there. Nice man!

My favorite Bill Walton story from "The Breaks of the Game" by David Halberstam when it was revealed his home shower had two shower heads, one at normal level and the other at a much lower level to wash his, for lack of a better term, dong.

I'm sure I could have used a better term, I just wanted to take the opportunity to use the term dong in a post. Carry on.

Not really a fan of Walton the announcer. Like Vitale, he makes it about himself and not the game. I didn't tune in to hear his inanity, I tuned in for the game.

I just saw this on the ESPN College Basketball page on Facebook. It made me chuckle. They were asking if anyone had any questions about bracketology for Joe Lunardi. He answered a select few, including this one:
Question: "What does Rhode Island need to do to get in the tourney?"
Answer: "Replay last night's loss against Davidson with a better result"
At least it makes me feel good that Lunardi doesn't think Rhody will be in the tourney.

Huge road win for Rhody at La Salle, as they pull out a 59-56 win. Not that we really had a chance at a top 4 but that pretty much renders it out of the question. They finish the year at Dayton and home to St Joes. They won't lose at home to St. Joes so they'll almost certainly finish with 13 wins. The other problem for us is that Dayton is currently beating VCU on the road. If they pull that off, then we're all but mathematically eliminated from a top 4. So we have to hope they lose today and then lose one of their final two (home vs Rhody, road at La Salle). Realistically, we're shooting for a 5th place finish, which means we need Davidson to beat GW tonight. If they do, GW will go to 8-8 in the league and provided we beat Fordham and Richmond, we'll be able to slide into that 5th spot even if we lose to GW in the season finale.

^We're cooked as far as the bye with those two wins, guys. But stranger things have happened. So let's hope something strange happens.

The way I see it is for Umass to get a bye here is what has to happen:

Umass has to win out to finish 12-6 AND
VCU has to lost their last two games @ Dav and home vs. GM
OR
Dayton has to lose their last two games home vs. URI and @ LaS

Another words, unlikely.

Umass can not finish ahead of URI and Davidson they can only finish at best tied at 12-6 and URI would win the tie breaker with the better overall record and Davidson would win the tiebreaker with the head to head win.

The absolute best UMass can finish in the A10 is 3rd place.

With one more win Umass clinches a top 6 seed. With 2 wins they clinch a top 5 seed.

I don't think Umass can finish any lower than 7th. But if they lose out and StB wins out both would be tied for 7th with 10 A10 wins and 17 overall wins and figuring that out is too deep into the rule book for me to look.

The nation's longest home winning streak now belongs to Arizona. BYU narrowly escapes from the Kennel with a HUGE win over Gonzaga. Haws and Collinsworth had big games for the Cougs.

And BYU pulls off the upset. Would love to have that win in our pocket right now.
