He could be looking at improving his own profile too - Just because his list is down to 4 teams right now, you can't tell me it doesn't grow bigger again if he has a monster winter and the Duke's of the world start calling.... Unless he snaps his leg into many pieces, Umass will want him no matter what he does, and I think the kid is smart enough to know that there is only upside for him by waiting another 6 months....

Just like a woman, you want them even more when they say no......

Do the Duke's of the world have any scholarships left after this week? In that respect, I just read that UNC picked up a 5-start guard, so that could push whatshisname over to Indiana and thereby increase our chances.

Indiana just got a commitment from De'Ron Davis, #47 in the ESPN Top 100 - 6'8, 230 lb forward (as predicted by 24/7 sports). Could sweeten the pot for him to go to IU.

If I read VerbalCommits correctly, Indiana will have 1 scholarship available after Davis signs. That's not good.

I think we're still in a good spot to get him. I don't think we have a ton to worry about. DK has been on him for a long time and the relationship seems to be there.

Of course, anything can happen... but I'm feeling good about this one.

Saw the De'Ron Davis commitment coming over a week ago, that's why I put myself in the position and believed that he is not going to Indiana.

I also do not think he is going to Xavier. I think the dark horse in this entire thing is Purdue and that he has built a strong relationship with Matt Painter.

I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes..but I don't think it looks good for UMass, if he signs early. If Bruce Brown waits until the spring to sign, I think our chances of getting him only increase. A lot can change in a couple of months, and with support and love from the area and community, he might see that home is best for him.

I've come to the conclusion that we're not going to know for several months so I'm going to chill on this until something happens. Unless we have a surprise last minute commit, I think DK will hold the last scholarship and wait for BB. The season starts tomorrow, and as dreadful as it might be, I'll be there yelling and cheering.

How many times have we heard a player say one thing during his recruiting process and then something else happened? I would say it happens most of the time... just like he said he wasn't visiting Purdue and then said he was going to visit Purdue. Thoughts and opinions change all the time man.

While that's accurate, I do think coming out and saying that you're going to skip the early signing period is something fairly definitive.

I also don't see how Davis' committment does anything but make IU MORE attractive, if anything , to Bruce.

Aside from that and the definitive statement about not signing early, sick post.

Looks like Brown is starting his official visit to Purdue today, we'll see how it goes..... would not be surprised, after completing all his officials, he will announce in 1-2 weeks.

^ Well, if he's going to sign during this period, he has 5 days to do it. After that, a verbal is not worth a whole lot until we get closer to the spring signing period. I agree, no way he's going to sign with UMass now. If he waits until the spring, there's a glimmer of hope.
