Game 10, 2017-18: Providence (12/9)
Get it started...
Re: Game 10, 2017-18: Providence (12/9)
I would be surprised if we go back to "small ball" against Providence. Their potential starters are 6'8 (Bullock), 6'9 (Young), 6'7 (Diallo), 6'3 (Ashton) and either 6'7 (Lindsey) or 6'6 (Jackson). We'll need all of the bigs to step up.

If I recall, Holloway played very well against them last year. Hopefully he can replicate that performance and finally have a "climb on my back, boys" kinda game.

Pipkins also had a good game vs. them last year. Last night Brown took Providence into OT before Providence was able to pull away for an OT win. clearly Providence was looking ahead to the Umass game.

Can we finally get a good crowd on Saturday? At least 4500 would be nice....

I bet a good crowd would show up if David Ortiz was going to be in the building.

I know there might be some questionable weather for Saturday but even with all that considered I would be shocked if this is not far and away the best attended game of the season thus far. Not expecting anything but a good showing would go a long way to future attendance. [/noduh]Cahoonaville wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:32 pm Can we finally get a good crowd on Saturday? Kyron Cartwright is their starting PG, he's got a sore ankle and thus didn't play much against Brown. Normally Ashton-Langford comes off the bench.69MG wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2017 2:55 pm I would be surprised if we go back to "small ball" against Providence. Brown has a very small team but led most of the way. Seemed like maybe Providence would put them away when up by 3 with 15 seconds left, but they fouled the Brown player who was going in for a layup, resulting in a 3-point play and overtime. Providence didn't look good, with some foolish plays like that and poor shooting on 3s. Maybe they were looking ahead.fenway617 wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:23 pm Pipkins also had a good game vs. them last year. Re: Game 10, 2017-18: Providence (12/9)
Is Providence the best non-conf game on our home schedule? I think so. They're a regional rival, been to the Dance the past 4 years, well-timed game at Saturday 3pm, students are still around.
Georgia game has some of the same attributes, but they're not New England and arguably won't be quite as big a draw.
Anyway, if we don't draw at least 4k for Providence, that's a big shame. Yeah, weather might have something to do with it, but come on people.

It's just too easy!
Unfortunately, I think the weather is going to kill general attendance. Hopefully the department is making a major push for students to get there tomorrow. I think they did something similar a few years ago when a storm hit and it works well enough.
