Isn't one of TB's strengths player development? I like Djery, big, strong kid with a good attitude. Strong offseason would be great for him

My own take on him is that he's not a fluid athlete and he has hands of stone, but he brings effort, decent quickness for a true big man, and above average rim protection... a more than capable backup big man for the A10.
As I think about it, I suppose my comments were based on the expectations I had for Baptiste. I saw an imposing physical specimen who played for a power 5 team and had many high major offers. I did see his stats at Vandy and figured that he could double his production against the schedule he would face here. As it turned out, his stats were about the same and that's where the disappointment comes from.

Just curious if anyone has heard anything about the possible 3rd assistant. Not worried, just curious.

I've been asking to speak with him for a month, but he's going to address recruits, summer workouts and coaching search.
Supposed to happen at around 10:15 this morning.

No assistant coach news from #UMass. Hoping to finalize within a week or so. McCall said young and energetic were two big attributes in the search process.

Other than not having nailed down the coaching staff, this is the most interesting tidbit I saw from the press conference.

Forgot to include something. McCall is adding a non-coaching adviser to his staff, someone who has experience as a head coach who can help McCall with certain things.

Yes, very interesting.... clearly he did some reflecting on his head coaching career thus far and felt he needed some help. Good for him. Here's hoping it can work!

^ I don't think the changes are going to be as drastic as some might think, could really be more of a restructuring than anything else.

Jacob Kurtz is/was a special assistant to the HC/assistant DOBO.
Lucious Jordan is/was DOBO
Brian Grossman is/was Video Coordinator

Long standing rumors have Jordan promoted to assistant. I could see Kurtz being promoted to DOBO, freeing up the special assistant for an experienced guy who would sort of fill the advisory role that Cliff Warren did.

Um... "restructuring" is moving existing people around, maybe giving them a new title etc..... MM said "adding", that would be a new person that doesn't exist and new position while keeping the rest of the pieces in place. Unless we are just talking about a new Strength and Conditioning person here, this is something of a significant and/or drastic change.

Here's what I suspect might happen...

Jordan is being moved around.
Kurtz is probably being moved around.
Grossman MIGHT be moved around.
A new hire will in essence fill Kurtz' old position while also filling a bit of the "experienced former HC" role that Cliff Davis did.

This is why I said the "revelation" about adding a non-coaching adviser to his staff wasn't really a drastic change, but might signal some restructuring.

Whether he adds or restructures or whatever the fuck we want to call it, I'm more curious about WHO is it.... and if it's a well known name, be it to UMass fans, Florida fans, or CBB fans in general...
