NE player had a thunderous dunk and yelled a little bit and stared off past the basket, not in the general direction of a Umass player. Nothing egregious, happens all the time. But the scream was probably exacerbated by the empty gym.

WAYYY too early to be making judgments on the new guys. Give it a couple of games! Hard to not like what you're seeing from this squad right now though.

UMass looks organized with some strong players, but NU is not very good. Still, they are playing, and with few turnovers and good rebounding and balanced shooting.

Garcia looks like a Senior. And for a Freshman Point Guard no less. Most impressive Frosh debut I've seen in a long time.

Fantastic penetrator, great ball handling, broke the press with the dribble like it was nothing. The long range stroke. Wow. We have a stud on our hands.

I haven't seen anyone drive the lane and slice through 2-3 defenders at all 3 levels in forever.

And he looks like a leader out there. Quarterbacking on both ends of the floor.

Your right NU isn't very good.. but we've lost or almost lost to some not very good teams early in seasons before.. theres a lot to like but it's still sloppy.. it will be interesting to see how much gets cleaned up in game 2.. JG has put together the best freshman debut at pg that I've seen at umass
