My guess is that it had a lot more to do with the MLS playoff schedule having the semi finals on the 25, and UMass not wanting to schedule the game to conflict with the Harvard hockey game on Friday night.

^ I can’t speak to the MLS’ schedule, but how is a football game on a Saturday afternoon in Foxborough a conflict with a hockey game on a Friday night in Boston that has zero to do with UMass?

🤷‍♂️I think that the thought was to play Friday (Nov 24). which could be in the daytime since it’s the Friday after Thanksgiving and there are a lot of rivalry games on that Friday.
I think that the UMass @ Harvard Hockey game on Friday has a lot to do with UMass😁…..what am I missing?

Yup. The idea was that the game would be on Friday and not Saturday. No idea who didn’t go for it or what was not right. The Harvard hockey game is against UMass on Friday night.

My feeling is UConn are greedy bast..rs and could not come up with an agreeable split of revenue, especially since ESPN will be airing one UMass game and this could be the game. Guessing ESPN2 or ESPNU. UMass will be on ESPN main for the first two games. Money is in football.

I stand corrected re: the hockey schedule. I didn’t realize it had been released.

Still think there a lack of interest in UMass-uconn football in eastern Mass.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving has been the date for a UMass home football game for years. The good news about having it at McGuirk is that there a lot of students from both schools that live within an hour of Amherst. If the weather’s decent hopefully there’s a decent crowd. UMass winning a couple of games by then will certainly help attendance.

Just ordered 4 tickets to the Army game. Anyone else going?

Also, never having been there, any suggestions on parking, etc.? I have no idea what to expect other than finally seeing West Point.

It is a great take. Went when we were 1-AA and was an amazing experience.

Went a couple of years ago. Make sure you go to Cadet March, which occurs in the morning on game day and get there early to park and get transported to the Parade Grounds. You will be entering a US Army base and can expect high security when arriving, which can take time. They are in no hurry 😁

This is also Family Weekend.

I also agree on getting there early. Went there about 10 -12 years ago and it is quite a enjoyable event.

"If you're a fan, or you're a hater (we love you), doesn't matter, you're gonna tune in and watch UMass football win some games this year."

Bottom line.. Don Brown wins. Outside of that you really have to like this team. We have seen team after team in college football go from crap to respectable. So why not us?? I though Casula showed well in the video.. not the cringy every one is great. I thought we had a chance last year until I realized the offense was so bad. With the amount of talent they brought in I think you see a jump like the D had last year.

That's a tall order. The Defense went from a bottom 5 defense in the country to top 50. If the offense does that and the D holds around that same level then we are going to a bowl game. If the offense simply makes a jump into the top 100 in the country we should win 4 games.

Excited for week 0. I don't think it's a stretch to say it's a top 3 most important game of the FBS era. ESPN primetime slot, 10s of thousands (if not more) alums will be watching, every football fan and analyst that has been starving for the sport to come back will be tweeting about it. I can't speak for what the TV ratings on the 1AA national championship games were like but it will easily be the most watched UMass Football game of the FBS era. We need to win that game.

Proper play calling for the players on the field is going to be the key. That was the downfall last season, at least in terms of securing a few wins.

Totally agree that Casula came across much more professional and can I say adult. Outstanding job by the media team on these videos this season! You can almost feel the Don Brown swagger coming back to UMass football with the chip on the shoulder. NMSU had an attitude towards UMass last season and I doubt that will be accepted this season.
