2025-26 Season
Re: 2025-26 Season
I wish we could see the +/- for Lilly. She is first off the bench, but played 23 minutes with 8 boards and 5 steals, and really mucks up the opposition offense. She doesn't attempt many shots, but for stretches she is our MVP on the floor.

^She's their version of Jayden. Dirt dog willing to do anything it takes to help the team. She's great.

Disagree -- I like the black uniforms. When they won the A10 Tourney in Delaware, they were the 'away' team vs Dayton and wore black. Yesterday also had all of the makings of a trap game -- right before Thanksgiving where the team are packing to go home for the holiday and the first road game in 3+ weeks. I think not wearing your road jersey may have been something good yesterday, especially with how slow they started. They were down 7-0 after like 3-4 minutes of play and looked lost. Could be wrong but I don't have a big problem with them.wmmmfan wrote: Tue Nov 25, 2025 8:34 pm Great second half. Beat Northeastern and they own the state this year.
I agree Berky, I don’t like the all black uniforms either. Men’s team had ones under Cal that had maroon or red trim that were nice but those all black were horrible.

Black was never a UMass color. If I turn a game on and they are wearing black uniforms I will turn the game off.

From umass.edu:
“The official colors of UMass Amherst are maroon and black. These colors play a vital role in establishing a clear and powerful image and in defining the UMass brand.”

NO way. I been going to UMass games since 1965 and the colors were always maroon and white. NO BLACK. So as I have said if they are wearing black I will not be watching.

Maroon and Black? What?
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

^ I wasn't sure the school could screw up anything else, but thy have found a way. Does it say who make these decisions and is there any recourse?
Re: 2025-26 Season
I'm with you Berky. Graduated in 68 and the colors were maroon and white. Hate the black unis. I don't care what the powers that be say- I bleed maroon and white- not maroon and black!

I hate to derail the thread discussing how awesome this women's team has been, but that's disgusting. Maroon and white all day. I'm not sure who's responsible or when that happened, but I'm happy to blame Ryan Bleepin' Bamford.

Re: 2025-26 Season
The University hired a consulting firm a few years ago that did all this. They changed the logo to the chapel image, introduced the "M" logo, and obviously altered the "official" colors. This was not initiated by Athletics, and our team colors haven't changed just because our official colors have changed. The teams still feature predominately maroon and white but have been wearing alternate black or gray jerseys for years (far before the guidelines posted above were created).Juice Stand wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 8:59 amI'm not sure who's responsible or when that happened, but I'm happy to blame Ryan Bleepin' Bamford.
I also don't especially care for it, but apparently the players like it, at least that's what I heard about the football team years ago when they introduced the black uniforms. Lots of teams are doing this these days. I wouldn't mind the black or gray uniforms as much if they coupled it with maroon elements like some have suggested to make it look more like UMass.

Re: 2025-26 Season
These colors are for media releases, etc. Not uniforms/athletics. White is the neutral. The black replaced grey. I asked the AD directly about this when I wanted to buy the right color maroon to make cornhole boards. I didn't get an answer I liked for the different shades of Maroon, but I did get confirmation that this maroon and black is for media (online or color magazines, etc.). White would be a blank page.Old Cage wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 2:09 pm Let's not be shooting the messenger!

Getting back on track here, the NET rankings are out, and UMass leads the MAC at 53.
