^ As far as I can tell, we are his only offer. If we're lucky he's a talented kid who flew under the radar.

Even with the 16 commitments not counting this one, believe this is only time since Whipple we have a class currently rated in the top 100.

not much info/hype on this kid but certainly hope he's good.
Feel there are 2 good types of recruits. One that can play almost immediately and perhaps in a few years gets poached. The second is most likely this guy who can develop and fill the shoes when type one cashes in on a P4 opening. Plus we know we need good depth and while not 6'4" he is not 5' 10" either. But decent size at 6'1" and who knows, perhaps grows an inch or two. Watched half of his Hudl mid-season video. He seems to have adequate speed, follows the plays well and doesn't mind give up his body and tackles pretty good. Well have to wait to see him, but looks solid enough and welcome to UMass Ted!

Its a terrible thought but I question any kid that would sign with us at this point. Unless you have no other offers what is the upside?

We offered the most money (presumably).
Immediate playing time.
Can transfer out a year from now if he's not happy here or has better opportunities.
Give WBB more money.

Here is a message to Thor. Work on securing a 3 way deal between UMass, UConn and BC for all to agree to play each other for at least the next 5 years. The only 3 FBS schools in New England need to and should play each other every single year. It's the only way to grow any interest in college football locally outside of one of those 3 making a run at the CFP. Just my two cents.

There needs to be public comments along these lines as well. I am a script U member, STH, etc. This information should not be behind closed doors. Especially the renovations. The idea that a small group gets an inside scoop on this type of info is what alienates people and shrinks attendance and support for the program.

I hear you minutemanjsf and 100% agree on the first two points. But the last two are debatable. Think details discussions is appropriate to those investing in the program and a more general brush later for the public. As attended only a few MassCo meetings, the details are shared, but not specifically. Meaning the structure of the NIL contracts are shared, as not even NIL distribution and having a balloon payment after the transfer portal closes. That X hundreds of thousands are left from last year as players did transfer and lost out on the balloon payment*.

* I added in the last 5 words and maybe some other reasons for the amount left.

I agree that there is specific information reserved for investors. I think the current AD and department have no idea where that line should be. This meeting is from the school not the MassCo. The AD seems to think letting information out might ruin a perceived strategic advantage when in most cases telling the public the plan(s) would increase leverage. There are many more potential UMass fans than actual fans (donors and STH). They need to be tapped into. Hiding information that can attract fans should never be privy to the few. There are no topics in that email that are not intended to attract or retain fans.

Sounds like another mis-step by our AD then

Haven't commented on this before but it appears that athletics needs a new leader

I’m planning on attending the zoom meeting. I hope it’s informative and I think it’s the least they could do updating us after the 13 years.

I’m fine with letting those that already have skin in the game - or at one point did- come to the meeting first before announcing to the general public. I got the email, so I don’t think the bar is all that high. I have season tickets to football and give to script U but currently my script U is 100% for ice hockey. I have in the past given to the grid iron club. When asked to give to script U for football I declined and when asked why I told them that football had to earn my financial support back with on field performance. They still sent me the email.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Leave the A-10!

Glad you give to U Script and do like that it doesn't matter where you give and can give to your personal passion. Saw your post on MAC talk and gave you some points and interesting the other MAC programs are all ahead of us.
