Game 10, 2025-26: Boston College @ Mass Mutual (12/10)
Re: Game 10, 2025-26: Boston College @ Mass Mutual (12/10)
Banks is that guy. Hes got the mental strength to be that guy in the clutch. Lot of guys played well and did some nice things. Team got a little complacent when they got up 12, and a little foul trouble messed up the combinations, but they pulled it out. Good win, a good building block, hope they can go on a run now. Big game vs Fla State, would be a great win
Wonder what was up with Luka tonight, didn't see 1 minute

I'll keep it real simple. It was ugly and we did a lot of things wrong. But I don't give a rat's ass!!! We won and that's all that matters.

Shout out to Clerc. UM was getting dominated on the boards and he came in and grabbed 7 rebounds in only 14 minutes. He brings a toughness that Bettiol just doesn’t have and was a key contributor to the win tonight.

Definitely! Clerc might've played his best game - gave crucial minutes with our other bigs in foul trouble. He came through today. Especially important because Carbuccia didn't have his best game, and Frank used a tight rotation tonight of only 8 guys. K'Jei also hit some timely shots, with only 1 turnover to 4 assists.BR72 wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 11:42 pm Shout out to Clerc. I don't think this team's put together a full game yet, but they un-UMassed themselves by not folding and responding in a much anticipated game.

Someone asked, I think on Twitter (X) why Luka didn't play. Clerc is much more physical, a better rebounder and I think a better defender. He may be our best hope for someone who can defend the paint, one of our main weaknesses. He's not great, but better than anyone else we have.

Great to get the win, but it felt like each team tried to give the game away on multiple occasions.

Brutal game to watch due to the refs. Let em play!
Random thing I heard during the game was that Asemota on BC doesnt have an assist this year. Also maybe blew the game with the taunting tech. The ultimate anti-chemistry type of guy.

Can somebody explain to me why a coach would waste one second recruiting a guard who cant shoot?

Welcome to MAC.... That's all that is left when recruiting at the third tier conference level.stevemaz wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 6:58 am Can somebody explain to me why a coach would waste one second recruiting a guard who cant shoot?
I can take the ups and downs of a game like that, but they need to spend a month practicing their foul shots.... they win that game by 8 or 10 if they could just shoot foul shots.
I don't want to be all down on this, they came back from a spiral and figured that out. Learning to win is part of the process - hopefully they learned something last night.

Basketball is a game of runs. We had our run to go up 14, they had theirs to take it back. The free throws are a major problem, but it's all good when you get that W, especially against BC or a P4 team (even a bottom of the barrel P4).

Agree, Clerc was a little more aggressive and battled their big guys. I think he's getting more comfortable and confident. Thought he was pretty good last night.DanaDingle3 wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 12:11 amDefinitely! Clerc might've played his best game - gave crucial minutes with our other bigs in foul trouble. I also agree on K'Jei. He picked his spots, hit some key shots, and played under control.
I actually thought outside of that BC run, that the team played pretty well. Defensive pressure was good, offensively they were moving and looking for each other. Jayden was excellent keeping balls alive and rebounding. For a kid at 6-4 to battle their bigger front court and affect play that much is impressive
Work in progress. Haven't seen any quit in them. Fla State will be a big test, will need solid bench play. Keep it rolling boys. This team could easily be 9-1 right now or 4-6, so 7-3 isn't bad.

I 1000% disagree with this. We are not getting "all that's left". Frank is recruiting like he always has - sure he's not going to get the #1 ranked recruit, but neither are 360 other D1 schools. Wembley was going to P5 Fla. State before Hamilton was fired. Carbuccia was a top 200 recruit with several P5 schools recruiting him - Maryland, West VA, Seton Hall to name a few. Next years class is solid - Helgason is a Top 200 recruit with several P5 schools offered, and if they land Flemming from WMA - he's also a top 200 recruit. Lets say the average D1 school brings in 5 Freshman each year - thats 1800 D1 Freshman - if UMass is getting Top 200 ranked kids that's far from "leftovers" as you are basically calling them.
You guys make it sound like the A-10 is such a great conference - they are a 1 bid league just like the MAC - sure - overall a much better conference but if you take the Top 3-4 teams from the MAC they'd be middle of the pack in A-10 or maybe the top MAC team is in the mix for the league title - there's not as much difference as you think.
