Don't foul the 3 point shooter!
UMass: Fouls the 3 point shooter.

You deserve to lose when you do dumb shit like that. Sorry, not sorry.
100%. There are 50 things you can point to as to why we lost this game. That play cost us the game. There were under 10 seconds left with a 3-point lead. Normal strategy is to foul in the back court. Give them 2 at the line. That is BB 101. If you don't foul, let them take a 28-footer with time running out and take your chances he misses it. I have no idea what Frank told them during the time out, but I know it wasn't "foul the 3-point shooter". Frank screwed up a few things, but this one is on Parker and it's a shame because he kept us in the game with his shooting.

Another game that quite simply "losing teams lose". A better team, a tougher team, a better coached team wins this game. In regulation no less.

This is where we are, guys and gals. Another Frank Martin team that's not mentally strong, physically strong, fundamentally strong, defensively strong, developmentally strong, or clutch-time strong.

The guy who got fouled, Campbell who scored 47 today, had shot exactly 6-24 from three all year. Of his 47 points today be shot only 3 and made 1. He is not a 3 point shooter so when he got the ball it was crazy to foul him a long 3 because he wasn’t going to make it anyways. Once he got the ball I would have let him shoot a 3. They have some good 3 point shooters but he is not one of them.
By the way women came back from an 11 point half deficit and won

Umass is making the Mac look like a powerhouse league. We have some work to do now just to make the tournament.

As well as whiney & blamey. Teams generally mimic their coach's energy.
Old M'man Luke Bonner said the same thing on social media today.

Watched Frank's presser...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mViaXkmBkZg
... and came away with a feeling like this could be a dangerous point in time this season.

No one stepping up to take ownership. Players seemingly not responding to what he's been talking about. Etc.

I'm looking for the panic button.

On another note, disappointed that not one journalist in the presser asked "why not foul (long before the shot attempt) in BG's last possession in regulation?" Really would have liked to heard about that decision.

This quote here in the Gazette perfectly illustrates Frank's hypocrisy:
“We haven’t fixed our problems… If we can own our problems, maybe we can win a game. Then we can start regaining a little confidence and feeling good about ourselves, rather than walking around with our feelings hurt, like we’ve been for two weeks.”
This is one of his favorite things to say, that the players "have their feelings hurt". I have no idea what that means, but this is coming from a man that sits with a pout on his face, screams childish insults at his players, and constantly tells anyone that will listen how bad they are. He acts like HIS feelings are hurt 100% of the time.

I agree with so many on here and Luke Bonner that say that the team is becoming a reflection of his poor attitude and energy. We've seen it for 3 1/2 years now, this is not a one-off. This is what Frank Martin is all about, and unfortunately, he's been nothing but a loser. And don't give me that 2023 Cross/Cohen BS. That was a team that should have been in the A10 semis and playing in the NIT. Instead, they win 20, get blown out in the first round, and play no postseason.

The guy's a loser and he's completely lost his ability to communicate with players. 129-126 overall and 65-80 in the SEC/A10/MAC since his Final 4 appearance.

Absolutely. Feels like a tipping point is either here or very near.

As for his comment about no one taking ownership, "someone's gotta own defensive responsibilities". Does he know it's his responsibility to teach that? His messaging is totally ineffective. That's his problem that he needs to figure out.

He hardly ever takes responsibility, he puts his players down, and I didn't hear him give Bowling Green players or their coach any credit. I do like that he said that we're "this close", I like that. But he needs to be better at coaching and communicating to get them to cross that line, and I'm not sure he's capable.

Every year it's the same speach. Hey Frank.. maybe it's not the players.

Juice has a lot of good points. Insult & deflect blame.
Bad energy & vibes around right now. I'd be curious what fans walking out of that game yesterday would say about the atmosphere & game day experience

I've been of the mindset that Frank is a good enough recruiter that he will out recruit everyone in the MAC, and just based on talent alone, they will compete for the MAC championship every year - the past couple weeks I no longer feel that way. I'm not about to do the research but I would be willing to bet there is not one player in the MAC that Frank recruited - and if he had I guarantee they would have come to UMass/A-10. I still think, and maybe because I wear my maroon glasses all the time, but I really do think we have one of the most talented rosters in the MAC, but Frank is middle of the pack and maybe lower when it comes to coaches. I also think his assistants are afraid to speak up and point out things to him during the game for fear of getting screamed at like Kellog and Nelson did and ultimately get shown the door after the season. Most good teams have a great coaching "staff" not just a great head coach - Frank talks all the time about how loyal his coaches are - well shoot - if they just do what he says all the time and don't push back of course he's going to keep them on board.

I'm now convinced we need to move on from Frank - he's never going to change and the game has passed him by - he cannot coach in the day and age of NIL.
