Re: Portal- 2026 Season
Welcome home, Pop! I don't follow football recruiting closely, but this one seems like a big deal. It will be nice to know who your starting QB is heading into the spring game and summer camp for once. No more guessing, it's Pop. He's the guy. With the starting QB situation wrapped up, Joe can focus on complimentary pieces to build a well rounded roster around him. I'd like to think that having Pop committed will help attract quality offensive talent that wants to play with him as well.

Re: Portal- 2026 Season
What's the scouting report on Pop? I see that he's listed at 5'11", so he's undersized for a QB, but obviously must be pretty talented. Is he a dual threat guy, pocket passer, etc., what's the story?
Re: Portal- 2026 Season
Posted a video above and is dual threat. 247Sports is the only site that I checked in in 2023 he had an 87 rating.
Also had planned on increasing my U Script donation and k
now will buy a 4th season ticket for the times I need it.

Virginia Tech was 3-9 this past season.Juice Stand wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 9:43 am What's the scouting report on Pop? I see that he's listed at 5'11", so he's undersized for a QB, but obviously must be pretty talented. Is he a dual threat guy, pocket passer, etc., what's the story?
Their stats show that he played in 4 games:
Passing
2-4 77 yards
Rushing
9 rushes for a Net gain of 22 yards with a TD
Others here should be able to share how he did against Minnechaug during his career at Central…..

This 13 minute podcast from Dec 30th is mostly about Pop and Tommy Guy has known and developed him since 8 years and 12 years old competitively.

Care much more about how he did against Virginia in the season opener in 2024. My guess is they recruited over him. He did start the season with a good win over rival Virginia.
More from the collegian

Watson III made 11 appearances in three years with the Hokies, starting the final two games of their 2024 season. He showed out in his second start, winning ACC Rookie of the Week in a 37-17 win over Virginia. Watson III went 14-of-21 passing for 254 yards and a touchdown, adding 48 yards and another score on the ground in 11 rushing attempts.
In four appearances during the 2025 season, the Bay Stater completed 2-of-4 passing attempts for 77 yards, additionally rushing for 22 yards and a touchdown. The newest Minuteman has a unique dual-threat ability with a strong arm, quick feet and decision-making to match.
Coming out of high school, Watson III was the 2022 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year, a three-star recruit and the No. 20 quarterback prospect in the nation according to ESPN.
Watson III measured out at 5-foot-11 and 201 pounds as a redshirt sophomore, gaining 11 pounds since his freshman season. Coming into the 2026 season as a redshirt junior, he’ll have an early advantage in competing for UMass’ starting quarterback spot.

Re: Portal- 2026 Season
100% build an offense around Pop and absolutely start in the trenches
Look at Indiana's #1 WR this year, he was a FCS player at St. Francis PA. There is talent out there to develop
Speaking of Indiana, it looks like we got 2 brothers from U of Indiana to commit to UMass - the DePaepe brothers, Andrew transferred to Indiana from Michigan State originally
