^ Nice catch, DD. I'm almost a bit surprised The Collegian let this be published.

Re: Ryan Bamford
That's a very well reasoned and written piece. Kudos to Jacob Nevins.
Re: Ryan Bamford
WOW - This one brings me out of my self-imposed slumber from this board. Very well stated Jacob.
I question many things about what Bamford has/has not done, but the one thing that sticks out the most with me is this latest "plan" which includes a likely 20-30 year debt service to throw money at a building that is already 10+ years past its shelf life. That is a loud and clear message that McGuirk is not going anywhere (ever) which is also a loud and clear message that this school is not truly serious about FBS football.
Do not misconstrue that statement as McGuirk has to go... on the contrary. The money needed to fund RB's "current vision" is mostly cosmetic. That building needs major infrastructure changes/additions, not bushes and eye appealing exterior design enhancements.
Not one single penny should be allowed to be leveraged until there is a New AD in place to assess the entire situation and come up with a actual new plan - all of the above (and everything Jacob states) justifies that. If this University allows him to continue (after 10 years of futility and failures) they deserve all of the waste and failure that will ultimately follow.
Jacob - Bravo! And more surprisingly - Daily Collegian, kudos for publishing that!

Re: Ryan Bamford
Why? The Collegian isn't the UMass press office. I don't know exactly how they operate (budget/finances), but kudos to them for the critique in that column.69MG wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 7:35 pm ^ Nice catch, DD. I'm almost a bit surprised The Collegian let this be published.
Do you think they're risking getting their access cut off? Bamford will probably give them the cold shoulder for one-on-one interviews, but I don't expect that The Collegian entirely would lose their credential access. To do so would be unacceptable.
Re: Ryan Bamford
He's not worth interviewing anyways..... All they have to do is reguritate the folliowng and that is pretty much everything he has to say:MikeUMA wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 11:54 amWhy? - This time it's different
- We will sepnd more money we don't have
- I have washed my hands of football, it's Thor's problem now... see next
- And thanks for taking about 50% of the Athletic department budget responsibility off my hands and the big raise you gave me for reducing my responsibilities
Wash... Rinse... Repeat.

Re: Ryan Bamford
Yesterday was my prediction day for an announcement, which of course did not happen. Still holding out hope the overall plan is still in motion, but that is fading.
