I have seen Unique play on many occasions and it is my opinion that he is a good get. Don't waste much time trying to decide if he is a 1 or a 2 as he really doesn't fit into any position except that I would call him a guard. He talks about improving his ball handling and decision making but it is not to be a pg, but just a better player. I like who he is as a person and a representative of the school and team a lot too. He works hard, and just as important, has an understanding of what he needs to improve on and he gets after it. He can be a very effective player and make plays to turn a game around...he is not a traditional wing, jump shooting 2 guard either. He will be a fan favorite in the way that Herndon was, and believe it or not, I think he gets up higher than Will did even though he is a little smaller.

Also, I was at the game when Jon Garcia was matched up against Unique last fall and Unique did some good things that game but I am not sure why anyone would expect him to dominate Garcia...Garcia is one of the most under recruited players from WMass HS that I have watched. Anyway, Unique really does have the right name as his game is definitely unique but it is fun and can be effective in the right situation.

I'm curious as to why you think he's not improving those skills to be a pg. Not saying you're wrong, just trying to understand where you're coming from. What was that game where McLean went up against Garcia? Was it a pre-season game or something? It's weird that it's not on either team's schedule.

I'll bet that there will be more than a few of us at an occasional McDuffie game this year with our UMass gear proudly displayed. We'll all have a first hand look at Unique and we'll see how his shooting and PG skills are evolving.

Unique McLean mentioned he wants his family to be able to watch him play.

We're only about 4 hours away from NYC, less if you drive pedal to the metal. If they don't drive, there's always Amtrak, again ~4 hours.

I'm surprised that DK can't use this fact (Your families will be able to watch you play!) on more NYC area players.

Don't think that the players from NYC come from a wealthy background. Their parents are usually working nights, and weekends. With the way things are today, it's hard to keep a standard of living in the city, most hold that "another day, another dollar" type mentality.

....In person.... NOT on Television.....

For our shitty cable offerings and the piss-poor A-10 TV coverage you are better off playing for Prairie View or Tennessee Tech or some other neverheardofthem West coast team if you wabnt TV time here        .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he seems to have had a pipeline to TN, not NY.

He has had guys from New York, but you're right, it's no pipeline.

Thanks for the link to the game Niles.

What I saw was a certain fluidity to his stride and a nice knack for anticipating where a missed shot was headed and moving to that spot on the floor. I think we'll see a lot of putbacks, including some spectacular dunks, on missed shots from the opposite side of the court.

My memory is fuzzy, but I always remember identifying Greg Duarte as a smooth-as-silk player who just glided along the hardwood (obviously my favorite type of player). I would love to be able to classify McLean in the same category.
