2019-20 season
Re: 2019-20 season
I see Samba as a Dana Dingle type. Quietly plays his game, strong rebounder, gets his points around the rim. Good defender, has a nose for the ball, occasionally hits that mid range jumper. Plays the game tough like Dana did. He's got a good frame on him and as he gets stronger will be a tough guy to cover.
If he has a career like Dana did, he'll be a major piece of this team

The Rider home game is almost certainly tied to the Naismith event.
You'd want to play CCSU in a regular game? Curious about why.

We have our first bit of scheduling news for #UMass hoops. Central Connecticut State will visit Mullins on Nov. 16 and Rider will visit on Nov. 20 as part of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic. UVA-UMass is on Nov. 23 with the championship/consolation game being the next day.

You want all big names at home? We have South Carolina (expected) and Yale (confirmed, NCAA tourney). We're in no position now to lure the big fish.
Just compare this to last year when the home slate blew chunks.

I hope we win those games. I remember CCSU eating our lunch, not long ago.

I just want names that will get butts in seats. I like the regional rivals like BC, Providence, Harvard, but CCSU doesn't really get the juices flowing.MikeUMA wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:48 pm ^

Playing CCSU is the trade off to play Virginia and one of St. John's or Arizona st at Mohegan. Playing those types of teams most likely on national tv is what helps draw recruits to the school. BC and Providence are both afraid to schedule us as it stands

Playing the defending national champions a few hours away from campus. Get down there and make it a home game.

It’ll be difficult with a football game that day to get there.

Seems like no HC this year? I hate games at the DCU center but I think it’s a good series to keep alive.

Yes - it will look like "Major League" when those two guys were in the bleachers doing the two man wave.......

I agree that regional rivalries are good and not just for home games. Those schools are close enough that road games are doable as well.UMassHoops wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 4:16 pmI just want names that will get butts in seats. UMass plays puke-on in many sports already...time to include hoops.

After two years playing at sub-Gurlufson win totals, we should be happy with whatever schedule we get.
