Thanks OutlawPete for the link and preview. I think we should approach this game with a healthy bit of respect for GW, play the aggressive defense we are capable of playing, be cautious and active on offense (especially using the weak side better), rebound the lights out as we have been doing. Maybe those things will produce a win. Go UMass!!

I would put St. Joe's behind GW and probably Duquesne also. Lasalle, with all of its injuries, might also be behind GW and I am not so sure that St. Bonnies is better than GW. I would put GW pretty much on the UMass level -- somewhere between the 8-10th best teams in the A10.OutlawPete wrote:who would you say is the second worst?throwdown wrote:GW is far from the second worst team in the a10.
Bamford has erased McCutcheon
After having a good look at the upcoming schedules of all the teams involvled, I'd say our chances our poor. Oddly enough, it's because of the injury plague at LaSalle.Minuteman4208 wrote:What do you think of our chances at earning a home game in the first round of the A10 tourney if we can win down at GW? The LaSalle game is very winnable, too.
Firstly, we obviously have to beat LaSalle and GW. But that won't be enough, because even if we do we need LaSalle to defend their home court against the Bonnies. If they don't, we could easily end up tied with the Bonnies and lose the tie breaker. Normally, I would pick LaSalle to win that game at home, but they've lost three of their best players, all seniors, to injury, and they're at risk now to not make the conference tourney.
If we could beat GW and LaSalle and pick up another win, we'd be in much better shape. Ironically, two of the injured Explorers may be back by the time we play them, but they won't be back when the Bonnies play them. Touch luck. Too bad Freddie didn't make that 3 pt shot against the Bonnies--we'd be in much better shape
Moving further into the realm of fantasy, if we won the rest of our games, we'd probaby get the seventh seed and maybe even the sixth. Wouldn't that be nice!

Because Sean Carter having played a year at Oregon State where Michelle's brother is now the coach (and, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't then) somehow equates to the Commander in Chief checking out a UMass game? Ya never know, he could check out a game, but it probably wouldn't be because of Sean Carter.
If memory serves me, we beat GW in DC with Bill and Chelsea in attendance. I think he left Al Gore at home to check on the temperature. We did lose to GW, at home, that year. Bill Clinton wasn't in attendance and neither was John Calipari after he got tossed out.
I'm predicting a close UMass win tonight.

Why did I think Michelle's brother, coach of Oregon St. was Sean's father? I thought I saw that posted here somewhere and talked about in the past. That would make Sean Michelle and Barack's nephew, hence why I would think he might go. If I am wrong, then there would be absolutely no reason in hell he would go to this game.Marty Peretz wrote:Because Sean Carter having played a year at Oregon State where Michelle's brother is now the coach (and, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't then) somehow equates to the Commander in Chief checking out a UMass game?
