Coached against this kid when he was at Wakefield. Kid was a nightmare to try to stop. Playing top-notch AAU with BABC will only raise his national profile. I just hope DK stays on him and can get him to come play for us!

It is only a matter of time before we get a player of this caliber out of high school. Nice to sign this young man to a rising program at one of the best public universities in the world.

Apparently he's considering reclassifying back to 2015. Not sure if that's only because UConn is interested if he does, or if he would want to do it regardless. I would think UMass has a better chance w/ him if he stays in 2016, but that's purely a guess based on more available playing time after Gordon/Hinds/Davis graduate.

^ BABC link takes UM out of the picture.

Not sure if we're still in the picture or not, although I doubt we land either anyway, but Brown and Tyrique Jones are at the VCU game today according to Finkelstein.

From another thread, he made an unofficial visit today. If DK can land this kid, I'll be psyched.

I'm usually about as pessimistic as it gets when it comes to our chances vs some big schools... But if that list ends up being our only competition, I like our chances.. I would really only worry about ISU & Miami (and to a lesser extent, VCU) in terms of an easy choice over UMass.
When we will have to get worried is when the big dogs start losing out on the top 50's kids they're recruiting and come stealing our shot at a top 100 guy

Not thrilled seeing Auburn on that list. Bruce Pearl may have some questionable recruiting tactics but he can sell ice to an Eskimo and can coach his ass off - he is a hard guy to say no to once you spend any time with him.

Awesome. I had a feeling DK was still on him. Yesterday looked like an awesome day on campus, I hope Bruce got to take in the festivitied. Any more truth to the rumor that he's reclassifying and graduating this year? Brown would be the biggest pickup in Derek's tenure IMO.

^ Last I heard Brown was going to play this AAU season and then decide from there. I believe he's waiting on test scores to find out if moving to '15 is an option or not.
I'm not quite sure what to make of the visit.

One visit might not be significant, UMass is relatively close to Vermont Academy and it would be a good experience for them just to visit a school and see what the experience is like, kind of like doing a mock job interview. But it seems a little odd to me that those guys would visit UMass twice if there wasn't some real interest for 1 or more of them. Unless this was an entire team visit that was initiated by their coach.

LOVE seeing Bruce list UMass today!!!
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecr ... t?id=14072
Bruce Brown (No. 56 in ESPN 100 for 2016, SG, 6-4, 200, Vermont Academy/Wakefield, Mass.) who had a very strong camp and owns one of the best motors in the high school game, said that UMass, Indiana and Georgia Tech have been staying in regular contact.

^ I must say, Brown keeps things interesting. For quite a while he wasn't even mentioning UMass when asked who was recruiting him.

Problem is, if either Indiana and/or Georgia Tech really want him, and assuming he wants to play professionally, why UMass?

He is from Wakefield, Mass, plays for BABC and Vermont Academy...UMass gives him an opportunity to play where so many friends and family can see him play in person. UMass is the flagship University in his home state of Massachusetts with a wide variety of academic programs where he can work towards a degree and play in a multiple bid basketball league against top notch non conference opponents. Our new practice facility opens in September 2015 and will give him access to facilities to hone his athletic craft. At Indiana or Georgia Tech, Bruce would be just another guy in a long line of top 60 recruits, at UMass he has an opportunity to not only chase his professional basketball dreams, but be a program altering player. He can be a top 60 player who decides to stay home, play for his State U and become a player recognized and remembered forever, not just another guy passing though IU or GT. UMass and/or the A10 will not stifle NBA dreams, if players are good enough the scouts will find them be it in the ACC, Big Ten, Pac 10, AAC, Patriot League, etc. I can list plenty of players in leagues outside the Power 5, Big East and AAC who've had professional opportunities. If players want accolades they can get them in this league and at this University. Plenty to sell here, just a matter of if Bruce is willing to buy.

Still that BABC fence to get over and around. Maybe BB is the one!
