For anyone who has not seen Jimmy Patsos coach in person you will want to get a good view...not since Dick Fick at Morehead St have I seen anyone work the sideline like him(he once sat in the stands during a game when he was disgusted with both his team and the officials).
I was sorry to see Patsos leave Loyola, my son's college, as he is a very good recruiter and in game coach. He left Loyola as they moved up academically to the Patriot League, but downwards for sports.
Siena will be hungry and ready, for sure.

Still 8 days away, and I'm sure the walk-up crowd will be good, but ticket sales for our opener don't look to be going too well. I have to think we'll end up in the 6000+ range as it's our opener on a Friday night coming off an NCAA tournament year. I know many of us on here are excited and optimistic for the season, but what's the view from the average fan? Do they even know anyone on the team? Who will people who don't follow the team closely be asking about this year? Obviously we don't have a Chaz-like character, maybe DG and his coming out? Anyways, don't want to hi-jack the thread with general season thoughts, just thought it was interesting to see almost all the sections on the TM site still shaded darker blue.

And why aren't tickets being sold in XX, CC and the backs of A, B, Z. Probably reserved for groups? What about T. The whole section wouldn't be sold out with others near it still with many/better ticket available?

I won't be surprised if Siena runs a few buses from Albany for the game. They have been picked as the number 2 team in the MAAC conference. They will be a good challenge for our opening night game!

Looks like 2k-3K seats left. With still 8 days to go that is pretty good. It could come close to 8K. Last year their first home night game vs. Youngstown St. drew 4,231.
Regarding the closed sections, they may be holding those for UMass students or groups.
With the GA seats no longer an option the walk up line will be longer and move slower so get there early. People will now have to select their seats, look at a map, then decided if they want them or try another section. And the ticket window at the Mullins hasn't been know for their speedy service.
I'm just tryin' to get by bein' quiet and shy In a world full of pushin' and shove...

Good call they always travel well. The MAAC tourney in Springfield always had plenty of Siena fans, maybe that's why the section behind their bench has no tickets available.

Laura Amato @LauraAmato 3 minutes ago
Jimmy Patsos said senior center Imoh Silas will miss at least two weeks with a knee injury. He won't play in the opener at UMass next Friday
(Amato writes for the Troy Record.)
Silas averaged 17 minutes, 4 points and 5 rebounds last year. He has started 53 games.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

The fact that they're without their senior center will hurt them a lot. Maxie and Cady will really go to work in this one and I think we'll win by around 10. Could be close for a while and if we have an off shooting night we could be in trouble, but I think we win 81-71 or so.
I'm still trying to figure out whether I can take the day off Friday and get up to WMass. Will definitely be heading up for BC. I hope this game is being promoted in the Valley and if it is I think we end up with 7300 or so in attendance. No excuse not to have a nice crowd, though I did hear it's championship friday for high school football, so who knows...

^ I haven't heard it promoted that much, has anyone else? Also, not Siena related but the BC was advertised on NESN during intermission of a Bruins game as being at 12:30 with the other 2 games following.

This might be tougher than we think. Siena returns all 9 players who averaged 10 minutes or more and added a 6-5 transfer guard from Coppin State. The starters are:
Guards - 6'0 and 6'6
Forwards 6'7 and 6'8
Center 6'9 (he will miss the game). Backup is 6'8.
5 players averaged 8.5 points or more, but they only scored 69.3 per game. They did outrebound their opponents by almost 3 per game. On the flip side, they get their shots blocked a lot (over 5 per game), they foul more than their opponents and they turn the ball over more that their opponents.
Never having seen them play and judging by last year's stats, we are probably more athletic than they are. Cady's inside game and our athleticism should be the deciding factors. We just need to play solid D.
