^ Would you have described Briante Weber as a point guard when he was a junior in high school? I'm not saying McLean is equal to Weber or that he'll definitely be a PG someday, but just because he isn't a prototypical PG right now doesn't mean he can't become a solid PG that has some amazing abilities.

Never saw Weber in HS so I can't answer that. This I do know, point guard is a mentality as much as a physical talent and he doesn't have the pg mentality. That doesn't mean he wont play some pg, maybe, in the future but there are a lot of kids playing pg now who are not true pg's...usually(but not always) on average to below average teams. A team like VCU can get away with it a little bit because of the unique(not intended) style they play, but they sorely miss a true point guard in the half court as they really struggle there. True point guards and true post players are hard to find and it isn't making the game better. Everybody thinks they are a wing who either shoots 3's or over dribbles. Kentucky is better when Ulis plays...Duke is better when Okafor gets a lot of touches, both of those guys have the skill sets to play a true pg or post, not a lot like them.

^ Ok, he's not a true PG and likely won't become one in the next 5 years. I'm not gonna put money on that, but I think it's a fair statement.

In the last couple of days three recruiting analysts made predictions in the 247sports crystal ball that McLean would end up at UMass, no one has made a prediction for McLean to any other school. McLean is a Brooklyn kid, Chaz will be at the game, coincidence? It would not surprise me at all if McLean committed to UMass on Thursday.

I'm pretty sure UMass has been keeping track of McLean for some time now, DK has been going to MacDuffie games quite frequently this year, but you never knew if it was just to check in on Brad Calipari. Pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if UMass moved up it's recruitment of McLean as a result of being spurned by Bruce Brown. DK may want to add an athletic, penetrating, strong defensive guard, both Brown and McLean fit that bill.

I think McLean would be a great fit at UMass, him and Pipkins would be a very disruptive defensive duo in the full-court and his ability to penetrate would complement Pipkins' ability to shoot. My biggest question is how exactly do you use him with the rest of the pieces you have? McLean and Pipkins in the backcourt is pretty small and may not give you a true floor general to run the half-court offense.

^ I would be surprised if McLean was a repeat of Pugh. By all reports McLean has been playing quite well against good prep school competition and it starting to make believers out of scouts.

I'm starting to come around on McLean. He's only a junior, so he has a shot to grow a couple of inches, and from this 247Sports page, interest in him is starting to pick up. We sometimes have to take a chance on late bloomers and hope they develop. We have a lot of scholarships available for 2016, so we can afford to use one on him.

This is a good point. Based on what I've read and seen of him, McLean seems like the kind of kid who's worth taking a shot with, he's so athletic that he can do things no one else can and if he improve his skills he's got a high ceiling. Of course that would mean DK's gotta do a good job utilizing his other scholarships in case he doesn't pan out. I'm not 100% sold on Pipkins or Anderson as facilitating PG's to lead the team, but it's way too early to make that determination, Pipkins isn't even here and Anderson is just a freshman. It would be very interesting to see if DK were to add McLean how he'd use the other scholarships. I assume he'll get at least one big man, but do you go after a true PG like Alani Moore? A big SG? Maybe two bigs?
