Maybe... but we've been playing at these types of schools for years now... seen first hand their facilities, what their game day environment is like, etc... and nothing has really changed yet.
The chancellor has not. He’s only one year in.

THIS chancellor has not. The previous one went to some big away games. But either way that doesn't change the point.

And the last chancellor was generously rewarded with their own Bobblehead 😁. How many can say that….lol

Still tons of seats available. Not sure this is a sellout even in our 17k facility

Define "tons?"... I just looked, my estimate is that there's about 500-600 seats available based on the purchase map on the Athletics website.

I'm not at all suggesting that 17k actually show up... but this should still be the biggest crowd Football has seen since 2006.

Agree, but it does look Mizzou release 300+ tickets back to the ticket office in section 15.
Cal's 1yr, the crowd is Booing. He stands up, turns to the crowd and says "Cheer for us!"

I know I know... I am Debbie downer... But not really.. just follow along.

I am expecting this to be a shit show, but not just on the field. I actually hope it is a trainwreck off the field.

We all know the inadequacies of McGuirk. It is bad enough at 50% capacity. IMO the best thing that can happen here is that this is a disaster, from bathrooms, to tailgating, to simple traffic management. I want this to really really suck - BUT I only wish for this, if it really truly means a wake-up call to do what they sorely need to do with this concrete barn of ours.

The Chancellor is a football guy, I am sure he knows this is not great, but he needs to be forced into a corner on this once and for all.

If Umass really is serious about staying in FBS and think they have any chance of reasonable competitiveness down the road - they are going to have to deal with 20k-30k people per weekend a couple times a year... This needs to suck so they can see the need to make this (stadium and experience) a reason to come here rather than as a reason to stay away.

My position on this is misconstrued as I hate FBS for Umass. On the contrary, I would love nothing more than to have this in my back yard. I just want them to stop riding the fence like they have for 13 years and start acting like they are FBS. This has been nothing more than a shell of wanna-be.

^Your point is not misconstrued by me. I get where you're coming from, and an embarrassment like we're about to see on Saturday might move some needles, whether that's getting people fired or upping investments in infrastructure. I also don't root for UMass to be embarrassed, but sometimes it takes a moment like that to make things happen.

You might be right. I just saw a lot of sections 13,15,17 available and assumed sections 11 and 12 weren't completely taken. I guess they must be if they aren't open. I believe Bowling Green sold out in 2014 so hopefully we can get there

I don’ want it ti be a failure in terms of operations at all. Last year Homecoming was that, and it sucked big time. I want there to be enough problems or enough perceived potential or missed opportunities that changes are made.

What specifically do people want to see done at McGuirk? What upgrades? I was at the NIU game last week and, to be honest, it wasn’t all that much of an upgrade from McGuirk. For a team that had recently beaten Notre Dame, I wasn't exactly blown away by the “game day experience.” And this is one of the MAC’s premier teams that has been invited elsewhere! MACtion!

The have made incremental improvements over the years, for sure. More bathrooms are needed. Get rid of the gravel. Build a real concourse/food areas. Add seating in front of the stands. Add seating in the south endzone. Add TVs/monitors. Build a facade/spruce up the exterior look.
