Totally agree! It’s how you play in March that really matters

Impressive last 6 minutes of regulation wiping out a 2-0 deficit. Got at least a point wrapped up, 2 would be great.

No such luck. Northeastern wins in OT. UMass had a PP in the last 2 minutes of the 3rd period but Dell'Elce fell down and had to commit a tripping penalty to prevent an odd man rush. That gave NU a 4 on 3 PP in the OT period which UMass killed but it ended up playing out 4 on 4 and NU just controlled the puck the rest of the way and was able to put one through.

Really could use a win tomorrow heading into the break.

I thought UMass was lucky to get out with a point TBH. Northeastern looked faster and more skilled, and had the better goalie I thought too. UMass had trouble for long stretches clearing the puck out of its own zone.

Very tough that all Hockey East is mediocre to bad out of conference as well. Can’t rely on a run like the second half of the regular season last year getting UMass into the NCAAs. Hockey East tournament championship or bust unfortunately

Just a strange year for Hockey East so far. No teams in the top 10. A lot of our conference mates are in the same boat, including Maine who just got swept by UNH. It's a bit concerning, not just for this year but for the future as well, that the top 3 teams in the country are all in the Big Ten.

At this point though I just want UMass to get out of the basement of Hockey East. Hopefully the time off with an exhibition game scheduled out of the break will allow them to make some significant progress. Would be nice to get 3 today though to go into it.

Irving stole that one today! Unfortunately this was actually a non-conference game so no Hockey East points, but overall a good weekend against a very good Northeastern squad.

Vaclav Nestrasil got 2 assists last night but Canada beat Czechia 7-5.
Here’s one of them:

^ A goal and an assist for him so far halfway through the 2nd period against Denmark.

Announcers speculating about Nastrasil’s future…he could sign with the Blackhawks, he could stay at UMass or he could transfer to another NCAA school….a higher profile one. :?

Score update: Czechs up 4-2 7:29 left in the 2nd.

^I’d be very surprised if he transferred to a different NCAA school. It’s been a long time since UMass has lost anyone to th the transfer portal that they actually wanted. I’ve heard conflicting reports on whether Oliver Chau was offered a fifth year here. A collegian writer said he was and turned it down. Carvel said multiple times during 20-21 that UMass wasn’t bringing anyone back for the extra year. So maybe he changed his mind and offered Chau who left. But outside of him, can anyone thing of anyone who the staff wanted that left?

^ Agree. I was just relaying what the announcer said after he scored last night. On x, High Character said he’s not going anywhere.

The higher profile comment really pissed me off. UMass has done quite well of late….by ‘of late’ I mean the Carvel era!

Gotta love the pipeline to UMass from Czechia! 8)
