Hopefully he is and maybe he is waiting on the NCAA for clearance and we just don't know yet. If he is not on campus then the odds of him coming to UMass diminish. That doesn't mean he won't, just that he may not.

I for one hope he does as I think he is very talented and would love to see him in the Maroon and White.
I wouldn't worry too too much about Franklin. You have to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt here. Just because we haven't heard anything doesn't mean something is wrong.

If you were to worry about anyone it might be Marshall Robinson. UMass told him to go to JUCO first before coming to Amherst, which means whatever his academic issues were they were fairly significant. Also, because he's going JUCO, he is not bound by the NLI he signed in February. The way he's currently talking about it he'll be coming to UMass in 2 years, but there is nothing that says he has to. He'll likely be recruited again and if he blows up in JUCO we could lose him. Hope we don't though.

Sam Franklin was likely the best recruit in the 2015 class, so it is definitely important to find out his situation with greyshirting. These other recruits, I don't want to downplay them, but they were not necessarily "better players in the class".
I totally disagree with this ^. Besides, Sam Franklin is gonna do a PG yr so its irrelevant now.

I'd put Reche Thomas or Sekai Lindsay at the top of a very nice class of 2015.

Thomas and Lindsay were great gets as well. It was certainly the best class we've ever had. To each his own but for me Franklin was at the top, followed closely by those guys.

I'm glad LIndsay and Thomas are enrolled as well, because Franklin is not right now and with the PG year his status is up in the air. I do hope we're able to have him come to UMass ASAP. Hate to lose him.

I found this on the FB blog.

"Coach Mark Whipple had the players working in goal-line situations, something the team's been focusing on lately.

Now, the thing about goal-to-go situations is that it features a lot of big (tired, annoyed, hurting) bodies in a relatively small space. Plus, there are points on the line on pretty much every snap.

As you might expect, tensions began to rise a few snaps into the practice segment. They flared up considerably when it became clear that the offense wasn't gaining much traction against the big defensive front."

Looks like the defense is picking up on goal line stands or our offense just can't drive the ball in at this time.

Has anyone heard which game will be the homecoming game this year. I hope to be up to MA the week of the Kent St. game and most likely come to that game, weather permitting. Not looking to sit out in a big rainstorm.

^ And we have a winner! Kent State is indeed the homecoming game, 3:30 kickoff. No promises on the weather.

Thanks. That is why all the motels in the Amherst area have just about doubled their prices for that night.
