2019-20 season
Re: 2019-20 season
Maybe they can lure Jim Calhoun from the University of St Joseph in West Hartford.
Re: 2019-20 season
^ I guess I don't really think this recent comment by McCall is all that big of a deal. 3 people were fired, 3 people will be hired, and while people will be in different positions, the positions themselves might not be much different, if at all, from before.
I don't mean that in a negative way, I think getting the right people in positions could make all the difference in the world, and 3 new staff members is a big change. What I think would be really cool is if McCall designates an Offensive and Defensive Coordinator.

Re: 2019-20 season
Maybe the problem is the way Josh worded it.... it sounds like an additional person to what the regular make-up of the staff would be. Maybe that isn't the case.

Re: 2019-20 season
^ Agreed, which is why I asked Josh some clarifying questions, to which he wasn't really sure...
Me: "Is this different than the Assistant to the Head Coach role that has/had been filled by Jacob Kurtz? Are we talking about the creation of another position, or a person filling an already existing position, potentially freed up by someone being promoted?"
Josh: "Much different than Kurtz, although it will likely have the title of assistant to the head coach or special adviser to the coach. It's a completely new position being created from last year."
Me: "Do you know the # of total positions? HC, Associate Head Coach, 2 Assistants, DOBO, Video Operations, S&C, Special Assistant? Trying to piece together if this new position is in addition to Kurtz' position, or if Kurtz might be promoted to say DOBO."
Josh: "I think Kurtz might get promoted to DOBO, but I'm not 100 percent sure about the structure. Limited time with Matt today so I couldn't get full breakdown of the staff (and I'm also not sure if he knows the exact structure yet either).

Come on guys, it's obviously Al Skinner that's coming back to be the special advisor. Or maybe it's Rick Pitino. No wait, it's Brad Calipari, which will allow John Calipari to be the special advisor through his son without breaking any NCAA rules or alienating the UK faithful. It's a brilliant plan!

No, we need threads about projected minutes first.

I’m not comfortable projecting the amount of minutes Eldon will get until I see his highlight tape....InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 3:27 pm

Re: 2019-20 season
Jumping in here to steer this thread in a different direction. Do you think this will be an "item"? I'm not sure that I would notice.
"The NCAA approved Wednesday a proposal from its men's basketball rules committee to extend the 3-point line more than a foot deeper than its current positioning.
The rule will move the line back from 20 feet, 9 inches to 22-1¾, the same measurement used in international play. The 20-9 distance has been in place since 2008 in NCAA men's basketball."

"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Why are they doing this? Is it broke? I hadn't noticed.

I'll settle for August and some basketaball in the Virgin Islands. Nice to hear that the whole team will be on campus on June 16.

Cliff wasn’t in any advisory role at all...him and Rasheen were not asked for their opinion very oftenNilesGold wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 11:06 am ^ I don't think the changes are going to be as drastic as some might think, could really be more of a restructuring than anything else.
Jacob Kurtz is/was a special assistant to the HC/assistant DOBO.
Lucious Jordan is/was DOBO
Brian Grossman is/was Video Coordinator
Long standing rumors have Jordan promoted to assistant. I could see Kurtz being promoted to DOBO, freeing up the special assistant for an experienced guy who would sort of fill the advisory role that Cliff Warren did.
