Re: KAEO Bruce Brown (2016)
I agree.. I don't think he's a kid waiting on that offer from Kentucky. Look he went to a lesser know prep school in Vermont. He didn't transfer to one of the bigger name prep schools. Maybe he's just a kid that will go where he's comfortable. I also feel he will just announce out of the blue. I'm not sure if he waits till spring.

Okay, I know I'm gonna get bombed for this, but I'm wondering if Bruce Brown is the right player to round out this class, which already includes two athletic guards not known for their outside shooting. I'm thinking an assassin from the perimeter would be more what this class needs. If all we have is a bunch of athletic slashers, teams will lay off and dare them to take it to the hoop. We know how that works

I think he is a perfect fit to round out the class and the team. He is a big athletic guard, a leader, and a scorer. Althoughi agree he is not that "pure" three point guy, he CAN shoot and he can slash. He is tough guard to play against and he makes plays! That would be a perfect fit for UMass IMHO.

Len.. I get what your saying and have thought the same. So far this class doesn't have shooters. But if given the opportunity do you pass on a top 40 player in the country??? Maybe the guys get better or find a shooter in another class...

He is also the best defensive guard in the country.rayers wrote:I think he is a perfect fit to round out the class and the team. He is a big athletic guard, a leader, and a scorer. He can shoot. As can Pipkins and the transfer we have coming in.
I listened to a podcast at hoopseen.com and it sounded like Corey Evans thinks UMass is ultimately where Brown ends up. Said most people think it's us or IU, with BC and UConn trying to stay in the picture.
I'm guessing beating out those schools for a consensus Top 40 recruit would make some people smile

When you have a lot of talent on the floor and teams can't just concentrate on stopping 1 or 2 guys, it opens up a lot more options. You absolutely take a Bruce Brown everytime you can get one.
If he's also as strong a defender as uminuteman says, I'll take 2

Not sure how this has gone under the radar but defense is a huge part what makes Bruce Brown special. You could match this kid up with EC Matthews on day 1 and he'd go toe to toe with him.
Regarding the "fit"...Bruce is a top level talent that, frankly, you just haven't seen in the A10 since Xavier left (VCU didn't even get these types of recruits). Len's point isn't a ridiculous one when you don't consider the player. Looking at the roster right now for 16-17, no we probably don't specifically need a SG. But if you think Bruce Brown doesn't "fit" in this class you just dont get it. UMass makes everyone else fit around Bruce, he's the crown jewel of the class.
Re: KAEO Bruce Brown (2016)
A backcourt of Brown and Jerreau with Pipkins, Lewis, and CJ coming off the bench is nasty. Not to mention Clark at the other wing position. That's nasty I say!

Re: KAEO Bruce Brown (2016)
Len, you're right, but as others have said it doesn't matter, you take Brown every time.
Re: KAEO Bruce Brown (2016)
^ Gotta note that McLean and Jarreau are no slouches when it comes to shooting, but yes they're better known for slashing.

I've heard that he is a Derrick Gordon who can shoot, a couple of inches taller and a team first player. Not a lights out shooter, but more than adequate. You just don't pass on a top 40 talent if you can get him.

I'm feeling good about him committing to UMASS. All the dominoes are falling into place for him to confidently say that UMASS is the place for him to go and succeed.
