That article was from almost a YEAR ago. That was his family's plan and the former coaching staff for him at UMass and things changed. He didn't even sign until December 4 and that was by Alex Miller (no longer on staff) during the early signing period. Coach Joe came on after December 6 which meant he could pick his own players, and he owed DH nothing. DH got CUT by the new staff--nothing bush league about it. Coach Joe hasn't even held one practice and you're giving him shit for following the rules.

Alex Miller was on staff with coach Joe. The signings seemed to be aligned with the hiring. Coach was introduced at a press conference on 12/6. Again, I am saying if he as coach, which he was when the kid signed, agree to the signing and then cut him/yanked the offer that is bush league. Do you not agree with that? If coach Joe on 12/3 or 12/4 told the player his offer was still good and then reneged on it after he signed that would be bad right? That is what the dad is claiming. The dad could be wrong. Maybe coach Joe didn’t agree to honor the offer. Who knows? I am not giving the coach shit. I am simply saying that if the dad’s take is accurate, then yes it is bush league. If dad’s take is inaccurate, totally fine.

BTW there were five early signings on 12/4. The only one not honored was DH’s. Pretty sure kids wouldn’t sign on 12/4 if they didn’t know who the coach was or if they didn’t have conversations with coaches or the AD.

He wasn't under contract--huge difference. Miller was never on his staff, Bamford kept him around for the transition and he was let go by the new staff. We don't know the status of the other players as they may have been cut too. He has plenty of time until next fall to find a new school. In this day and age of NIL, I don't feel sorry for any player--welcome to the real world like most eighteen-year-olds! DH and his helicopter father need to suck it up and move the fuck on!

The athletes wanted to be treated like employees and make money--while here you go. It's a business and if a coach follows the rules like coach Joe did here, then it's not "bush league."

I don’t know what happened. There are rules and he has the ability to make changes, for sure. The dad’s take implied rules weren’t followed. I have no reason to trust the dad, and the school can’t comment on disciplinary issues or recruits/players that are not theirs. Point was that if dad was correct, if coach Joe agreed to the offer and the kid signed, and then three weeks later coach reneged on the offer, that would be bush league. From my understanding, it would not be “legal”, either. He is definitely allowed to make changes and cut players he didn’t offer, etc. There were five players signed on the early signing day and this kid was one of them. Why he signed or was allowed to sign if he was going to be sent packing is the question that hasn’t and likely can’t be answered. Signing on 12/4, the kid obviously had an offer the school hadn’t withdrawn. Can’t sign if there is no offer. Not sure who was the acting representative of the school/program at that point. Maybe it was a Bamford fuck up. Who knows. It’s just a weird scenario with the hiring happening simultaneously.
