So far, we've only played teams that are experienced OR athletic OR good shooters, not all 3 at the same time. When we play teams that have guards that handle the press, shooters that can make outside shots, and the athleticism to challenge us, I think the first 4 things above will limit our ability to win those game still.

The good news is that there are very few teams on our schedule that meet that criteria
There are very few teams in the entire country that meet that criteria. This UMass team is really good[/quote]

Anyone know how to watch a replay of today's game?
I was unable to watch the game live.

I've subscribed to the A10 Network thing, but can't find any indication of a replay.

Am I missing something, or is the A10 Network system really that slimy? (Even ESPN3 provides replays for about a week.)

Go UMass!

Bergantino has a banged up knee. Nothing serious, I guess, just sore.

As sad as it is, even with the Patriots off today, the NFL is such a behemoth that most people would rather sit at home and watch random games than check out a promising, local college hoops team for $10/ticket.
I am not surprised by the crowd at all. Very little buzz about the team locally right now. And, most of the bandwagon friends I have are quick to remind me how many times I claimed "this is the year" since 1998.

This team looks very good. But, to make Umass basketball a priority here in Western, MA again, the program must make it back to the NCAA tournament. That is all there is to it. I know it is sad, but it is the truth.

Boy...based on the Ticketmaster info posted on the board, I expected a bigger crowd.

I have no idea if he realized he only needed one more point to get to double figures...which would have given UMass five guys in double digits...but DG passed the ball late in the game instead of going to the hoop. Like he said to Dan Malone the other day...

Hope Raph plays in SC like he has at home.

I didn't have them 3-0 at this point.

They may not have crushed them, but UMass asserted themselves when they needed to.

I'll take sleepwalking to a 16 point win against a decent opponent on a lazy Sunday afternoon. A game that would have been much closer or lost in DK's first 5 years. Defensive needs to get better or all our games are going be somewhat close and simply be games where we outscore teams in the 80's.

^Good no-call by the ref in that situation, they don't often see the offensive player's knee hit the defender's chest, they're used to calling shoulder to the chest. If contact was going to be called, though, it was technically an offensive foul.

hmmm... different dunks, both awesome for different reasons. for sheer athleticism, this one tops it and then some. having said that, the st. joe's dunk sparked one of the more remarkable comebacks i've ever seen, from down 20-3 to up a bunch at halftime to an 18 point win.
Just saw the replay for the first time...wow. I would have to agree with you that today's was better. If you look at where he took off from, it doesnt even seem possible.

I think DK was sending a message to DG today, kept him on the bench for most of the first half. Sent in Dyson and Trey instead. At least, I would like this to be true because Dyson needs to get a message--there's no point in getting to the rim if you don't score. When he came back in, he took fewer shots and made a more of them.

DG is going to be fine. He made some GREAT passes today and has a great feel for the game. He is just getting his game back after a year off. I love his toughness and tenacity along with his willingness to make the extra pass.

I disagree...I don't think a message needs to be sent. DG is playing "Refuse to Lose" basketball.

He's diving for loose balls...both BC and LSU...got 4 assists today, a block and a steal (6 for the season already).

He's only going to get better....Dyson too.

I don't think a message was being sent at all. I am pretty sure DG picked up two quick fouls and that is why he was sitting. If the there's not point in getting to the rim if you don't score things was true, Putney would have been sitting most of last year, and that didn't happen. I'm pretty sure it was due to the two quick fouls.

For most of the first half I was starting to think "LSU was the good Put, today looks like the bad Put". Then he got fired up and became much more assertive on the boards, on defense and attacking the basket. If Put and Sampson can continue this, we are in good shape.

YSU was better than I expected them to be, although they were no match for us physically. They have 2 good guards and their big man is a pretty good player.

Hopefully, DK and the staff will be able to look at the tape, see where the zone gave us problems and figure out other ways to attack it. We did a better job in the second half, and we scored 85 when it looked like the offense was struggling for much of the game.

I love what DG brings to the court. If he can cut down his turnovers (and improve his FT shooting) he will be a force. He only had 1 or 2 drives where he came up short, but he made a couple that he likely would have missed in the earlier games. I love his intensity and he's a smart ballplayer. He made some awesome passes today.

Could we have come out with more fire today, sure. But this was only a small let-down compared to let-downs in previous years after a big win. We need at least 2 in Charleston.
